I am wondering if I am able to wear a saree using mass transit (my city has gotten more dirty and dangerous)

But how to walk up and down the stirs wearing a saree.

I don’t know how long I will drape it. Just enough so it doesn’t touch the dirty city floor.

and I can only wear flats.

or should I wear saree within the four walls of my home. Instead I’ll stick to kurtis (with king skirt or leggings) and anarkalis

I personally would not wear saree when taking public transit.. too much of a hassle.. would reserve it for visits to friend’s place, special occasions and temple visits.

If you can walk comfortable and transit is not rush by crowd you can wear it.

While walking , rise it little high to avoid dirt. I feel better with kurti and jeans but must say I am jealous ladies who grace their daily routine in saree

It is not that difficult. Wear flat closed footwear. While walking lift saree little bit (pleats part) which will also make it easier to hop on hop off the public transport. Make sure to pin the pleats.

Fumbling around with a sari on public transit isn't going to be fun. With the rise in hate crimes against Asian Americans I would forgo the 'Sari on the Subway' idea altogether. Just a week ago an Asian woman was pushed in front of a subway car in NYC by a homeless man. Whatever the cause of the incident, I'd be wary of sticking out more than necessary. Who knows what sort of person your sari might trigger. Save the saris for when you take a cab or an Uber to work.

The space between platform and train is too scary to navigate in a sari!

I'm unsure if D-Coat from Dolly Jain would make the difference.

She says it makes moving around in saree the most comfortable.

And it slims down the imperfections.

    Pinning pleats is must!!!!

I saw some jelly slippers being sold on Amazon. I'm unsure if that's closed enough though. https://www.amazon.com/Domucos-Womens-Sandals-Hollow-Loafers/dp/B07BP65D33/

I had purchased 3 sarees before COVID and Crime hit my city.

It is unfortunate we cannot be free.

Hope I get better job prospects where I avoid travel by mass transit.
