There are so many----different flavors. Some of these questions used to annoy me so much, now I just smile.

Questions by random people (not totally random but I don't know them only my parents/siblings do)
    1. Do you miss India? (Who wouldn't miss the place they spend 24 years in?)
    2. Do you have a house in the USA?
    3. Are your parents moving to the USA with you?
    4. Kids don't speak Hindi?
    5. What is your salary?

Questions by people in India whom I do know.
    1. What kind of food do you eat? Do you only eat American food?
    2. Why did husband/kids not come to India?
    3. Why did you come only for 1 w/2/3 week?
    4. Do you go to the temple or only to the Church? (why do I have to go to any of these places, anyway?)
    5. Do your in-laws visit you? Why don't they live with you?
    6. Why do you send kids to daycare? Why can't your in-laws help?
    8. What is your salary?

People (mostly Indians) in the USA whom I don't know very well
    1. Are these your kids? Is their father American?
    2. You don't eat spicy food? Did you stop after marrying your husband? (common question at get-togethers)
    3. Green card must have been easy for you, no? (This question always triggered emotions and I used to explain in detail how I got my green card on EB1 before I married my husband, now I just ignore it).
    4. Have your kids ever been to India? Has your husband ever been to India?
    5. Do the kids eat Indian food?
    6. What activities do your kids go to?

And this was an Indian Professor at my university, who met us for the first time at a party when my husband and I had just moved to our new jobs:
Talking to my husband exclusively, completely ignored me until my husband said- "meet my wife, she is also from India."
    1. Are you looking for work or busy taking care of the kids?

My husband answered that she is also a faculty here. And the next question:
    2. So spousal hire worked well?
(Neither of us was a spousal hire. We applied for different positions in different departments)

The spousal hire question is unnecessary and especially the green card question is extremely rude in my opinion. What were people thinking!

Yes and these questions are only towards a woman! And condemn it! If girl gets married! Then are u going to work after marriage! After marriage y no kids yet?! After kid y only one? After two! Y are u not working? If you work then who is taking care of your kids and home? Uff:BangHead:

    My sensitive questions are:

    1) Who your son resembles of the two of you? (How does it matter even if he doesn't resemble either one of us?)
    2) Can you adjust if you go back to India? (I lived there for 41 years before I migrated)
    3) You live in the US and hence money may not be a problem for you. (Once I responded, "Yeah. I just go back to my backyard and pluck whatever I need from the money tree")
    4) Is your mother in law living with you and you take care of her full-time? (How does it matter?)
    5) Does your mother-in-law have a green card? (Why is it important?)

The last one is very common. Who is taking care of in laws?
If in laws living with you then who cooks? Lol

You live in the US and hence money may not be a problem for you. (Once I responded, "Yeah. I just go back to my backyard and pluck whatever I need from the money tree") they don’t understand that there is no savings! I remember the pattimandram by Mohana sundaram! What a humor but so true
