Awesome ! I will go through it to pick some new ideas. I must say I relished the past 18 months as I did not have to encounter "some" situations at school which used to put me off and sometimes find way too petty. My kid is very very happy to be back at school now and so am I as a working mom!

But the cycle continues where in-addition to what we were dealing in the past , now we have covid vigilante where everyone is either scared or gossiping on who contracted covid , who are exposed ... who attended which party/event/after school activity .. what not... The reality is that it is not matter of "If we" but "when we" will get covid !! It is a nightmare situation and hoping vaccines for children become available soon ...

Some moms though might tell the dad it is mandatory just to make him go. : ) I vaguely remember I found it useful to have H there one year as I had a weird question or two to ask the teacher and told H it would be better coming from him. : ) My friend who was also in the classroom sitting on the low chairs almost burst out laughing as she knew no way my H could have come up with that question. I do remember he had dropped me off and came back after finding parking so he was sitting quite away from me. There were enough desis in the room for temporary anonymity and to look at H like I didn't know him or the question. : )

Looking back, all the BTSN were pretty much a waste of time and hassle of figuring out where to leave the younger kid. The only useful thing was that the parent-teacher-conference sign-ups used to be there and I could choose a convenient time. And, it helped to know how the classroom inside looked like and small things like reading area and getting some idea of the teacher's personality.

The most annoying part used to be the Asian parents who used to crowd the teacher after the presentation and make it a parent-teacher-conference about their kid while others waited patiently to ask teacher a quick question. This in spite of the principal announcing over the PA system that it was not the time to conference with the teacher.

I stopped going to BTSN around 4th grade, IIRC. Never went to middle school ones and in high school only went to one or two specific teachers classrooms.

IIRC = If I remember correctly. : ) I learned about this acronym vonly a year or so back.

And today I learned BTSN. : )

Apart from BTSN, parents - teacher conferences, I have hardly been to any school activities as such. Plus last year nothing due to covid.

How often do you guys get to go to school every year? Maybe for events or other things?
