    THE LESSONS FROM AFGHANISTAN

Osama bin Laden of Al- Qaeda, was the mastermind behind the Twin Tower bombing on Sept 11, 2001. The USA entered Afghanistan, installed a helpful government, and started to track down Osama bin Laden and finally got him hiding in Abbottabad, Pakistan. After the killing of Osama bin Laden on May 2, 2011, started large-scale troop withdrawal from Afghanistan. After 20 years, the Americans realized that they are fighting others' war. Their mission was over. Let the Afghans fight among themselves.
Afghanistan has a long history of wars, civil wars, tribal wars. Which country does not have?
There were 100 years of war between the United Kingdom and France.

Why go far? In India, kings have been fighting among themselves, trying to expand their kingdoms. Ashoka's penance after the Kalinga war did turn him into a Buddhist but that did not stop wars. Muslim rule of 800 years saw many wars. The British somehow managed to tame these Kings and Nawabs and finally left dividing the country and leaving their imprints of divide and rule.

Somehow we as humans, are not satisfied by what we have. We want more of everything that power only can give.

As a country, we should not be bothered by others' wars but that is just not possible. Countries need peace in the neighboring countries for their peace, and that is not in anybody's hands.

The only thing that seems to be working is power-economic, military. There is a huge competition and it may not be possible to dislodge the world power -the USA, though Russia and China are in the reckoning. India is vying for it but before that, it has become Regional Power.

We can not reach that stage unless we have internal peace.

You said it right sir, and as elders , with a vast experience, good and bad, we realize this..! Young blood is focused on power, success, supremacy etc. It is a beautiful mix and this is how the whole drama unfolds and goes on till.......you can guess.

    Well said and timely andapt.
This would be constantly happening all over.

    2. Semblance of Quietness in other Nations too vanish at some point of time in future and only difference could be that future battles & wars would be not using conventional weapons. It is biological warfare.
    3. Horses & elephants were used some hundred years ago and then modern weapons that includes FATMAN & little Boy atomic bombs.
    4. No country believes another country in so far arms race is concerned. All nations almost stock up weapons in their arsenal that includes Pakistan.
    5. Though Saigon taught yet USA was in Afghanistan. Have they learnt any lessons? After Four presidents & twenty years spent some $20 trillion the end result of their presence in Afghanistan is a huge disaster.
    6. Even now I am not sure that USA in future would cease interfering in internal matters of other Nations.
    7. Though the world has A UNO yet one realise how impotent it is TODAY in Afghanistan. Even red cross could not enter and extend help to affected Afghans.
World was a quiet place when it was created. From old Stone Age till today there is some kind of war going on. It is tumultuous ocean on land!

As of this month, India is the Chairman of the UN Security Council and they are agreeing to pass a resolution removing the word "Terrorists" before the word "Taliban". This means all NATO countries are willing to negotiate with Talibans as they are only aim now is to get their citizens safely out of this country. By allowing Talibans to rule Afghanistan, all NATO countries are agreeing to take the risk of defending against terrorism in their respective homeland and are willingly agree for human rights violation inside Afghanistan. Some countries in the world are not meant to be democractic. Khorasan is the aim of the terrorists in that region which will include Afghanistan, a portion of Pakistan, part of India, and it expands up to Africa and former Soviet Union territories.

As you rightly pointed out, only reason why the US went to war with Afghanistan is the terrorist attack in the US soil on 9/11/2001. There was an unnecessary war with Iraq after this. Trillions of dollars spent on these wars would have contributed so much of growth and development for the US if the US had not gone to war. The results obtained through this war could have been easily achieved through the intelligence operations alone. Lessons are always learned only after actions.

There is a saying, "One person's liberators are another person's terrorists". LTTE was a terrorist organization for Sri Lanka and it was a liberating organization for India until there was a terrorist attack on the former PM of India. Pakistan is an ally of the US in the war against terrorism in Afghanistan whereas they harbor terrorists in PoK as far as India is concerned. Foreign affairs is a complex subject.

Thanks. As always happen, uneducated, unemployed lads from the rural areas become easy recruits. Most of the 75000 Taliban army is composed of such youths. So is the condition in our own country. Some of them have been brainwashed to think that the country will turn into heaven once we are done with a particular community. In the same way, the youth in that community is promised heaven. The real victim is we.

As long as the human race is on this planet, wars will happen. Even the Devasur Sangrams took place. Who is Deva and who is Asur is yet to be decided.

Fortunately, we know what is enough for us but they do not want us to know. They are clever enough to divert our attention.

I was reading somewhere. Western countries will agree to Recognise the Taliban if they promise 1. Inclusive Government and 2. respect for human rights including women's rights. No one is saying what was wrong with the previous government.

Sooner or all later all 57 OIC countries will recognize it and so will others.
My point is, hold on, India! first put your things right, before you talk of others.
