I think the yellow is too contrasting with the black and white. Regular patter of the bricks is also bit distracting. Brick finish, if done with proper texture and earthy colours will look good in my opinion. It has to be the entire wall also not just the middle part. Textured wallpaper might look good too.

When watching TV in the daytime, the surrounding black rectangles can cause stress to the eye. As we cannot shut off our peripheral vision, the eyes will constantly be trying to ignore the surrounding black rectangles and focus on the TV.

Hey it looks more like an optical illusion....
If you want brick designs, opt for light shaded brick colors....
Also the wall stickers from various websites are good, which come with positive words, lovable family pic.
