Thank you @SunPa Your compliments have added so much to my happiness. As it was Sunday I had some catch up time; besides, I already knew about this and did not need any additional research. The little one is a beautiful girl. Nowadays I stopped looking up; instead I look down to her and see my universe Do I sound full of drama? Unashamedly "yes". It is an indescribable joy to see her face when she looks up and points to the moon and stars. Yes, isn't it amazing how just a slight angular shift can create so much difference in temperature? The sun being so big and earth so tiny, we expect that the heat should be evenly spread on earth. This temperature change is due to the enormous distance between the sun and earth. The distance, when mentioned in numbers does not give us much perspective on how far away the sun is. It is best to visualize in terms of day-to-day objects. If Sun were the size of a basketball - Earth would be a mustard seed roughly 5 (4.7) saree lengths away (@5.5m per saree). The best way! I had problem visualizing our moon showing only one side to us all the time, till one day I did a spin around a ball placed in the center. My apologies @SuiDhaaga . Too long a response from me. I will stop hijacking your thread.
Lovely pictures! I have noticed this as we can see the sunset directly from our balcony and bedroom windows.
Thanks for sharing these beautiful pictures. It reminded me of the following verses of Quran and sharing same,in case if you or anyone find it of interest: The Quran says: Allah is the Lord of two Easts and two Wests. [ 55:17] And now consider the following verse of the Quran: "and,by the Lord of all points of every sunrise and sunset in the east and the west ." [70:40] All praises be to the Creator of this amazing universe.
You gave a detailed explanation. I saw the video and it is quite fascinating. I always thought Earth and Sun were at equal distances. Thank you for the video!
