I am a diehard fan of chats. I can never say no to chats. Especially the varieties which we get in our city is awesome. Another all time favourite is Idli and udupi sambar..and most comfort food is mysore rasam and rice.

It looks, besides coffee, tea in various blends & dosa, idli hot small-onion-sambar-ghee-soaked and curd rice none has a weakness for my uppuma and jilebi or jhangri.

Once camping in rural Ahmednagar in Maharashtra in winter of 1972, I was in a lodge close to a defence installation. It was misty dec morning, and no sign of shops offering beverages.

A man helped to reach me to a shop in an isolated place suggesting to order for special tea and left. Ignorant of our mutual mother tongue, I gestured to shopwalla I need tooth paste and he proffered hot jilebi. I smiled and declined the offer.

Seeing small size cups, I ordered for two cups of coffee. It was an ordeal wait. Finally two cups of coffee landed on the table. I had a sip. Phew! OMG!

It was boiled chicory mixed coffee powder in milk filtered in cloth with too much sugar.
