    Meera ka Mohan:
O Krishna you are the greatest musician of this world.......

    Quayamat se quayamat yak:
    Papa kehte hain
    Koi engineer ka kaam karega
Business mein koi apna naam karega......

This just popped into my head while reminiscing over all-night Antakshari sessions in college when we were supposed to be studying for exams but would instead all sneak over to the boys hostel and create a racket.

Jiyen Kyon from the movie Dum Maaro Dum. Most wouldn't have heard of the movie or the song! I came across this lovely song when it played on YouTube after another song which I had searched for (Saibo from Shor).

I like Papon's voice and the use of "phone" and "remote" in the song, and how he recalls small details of their evenings and past times.

Na aaye ho, na aaoge, na phone pe bulaoge
Na shaam ki karaari chai, labo’n se yun pilaoge
Na aaye ho, na aaoge, na din dhale sataoge
Na raat ki nashili bye se neendh mein jagaoge
Gaye tum gaye ho kyun, yeh raat baaki hai
Gaye tum gaye ho kyun, saath baaki hai
Gaye tum gaye hum tham gaye
    Har baat baaki hai
    Gaye kyun toh jiyein kyun

Gaye tum gaye ho kyun, yeh raat baaki hai

I always associate the phrase Dum Maaro Dum with Dev Anand and Zeenat Aman. She was so gorgeous back in the day.

Yes. Zeenat Aman could appear gorgeous, graceful and display oomph at the same time. I liked her in sarees more than the low-neck or high slit gowns.

    Some older ones:

Aana meri jaan meri Sunday ki Sunday (from 1947 movie Shehnai). I think this must be the oldest song I can think of that has English words!

De data ke naam from Aankhen (1968). The concept of fakir, international, dollar, dinar... it was fun to watch this on Chitrahaar. Though back then we wishes they telecast more romantic songs in the weekly 25 min show!

De data ke naam tujhko alha rakhe
Tujhko rakhe ram tujhko alha rakhe

Are dinar nahi to dollar chalega
Are kamiz nahi to kamiz ka collar chalega
    Lekin dede international fakir ko

This one is from Manmarziyaan. I only knew the more popular Daryaa song (Sara jag chad ke bas tenu hee hai chuneya). But this movie also has this non-descript song:

    kaalaa na safed hai
    kaalaa na safed hai
    ishqe da rang yaaraa
    grey waalaa shade... ho...

    zamaanaa hai badla
    mohabbat bhi badli
    ghise piTey version
    maaro update... ho...

    ishq nazariya, nazariyaa
    badle ne romance de tevar
    ishq nazariya, nazariya
    kehnde ne ainu mutual favour
    ishq nazariya, nazariyaa
    ishq nazariyaa...
