Recently, I’ve become enamored by weaving. I made my own loom using cardboard but got fancy with my yarns
@BhumiBabe that picture reminds me of bags and wall hangings we bought long ago in handicraft exhibitions in my hometown. Would you be able to share some good websites for beginner weavers? Like, the minimum things to buy, how to get started, small project ideas?
Of course! I mainly searching YouTube for some starting ideas. This was the first one that was useful to create something a bit sophisticated but not challenging. Once I did this a couple of times, I felt ready to invest in a loom- so I bought one 2nd hand, simply because I was a bit lazy. Making a Wood and nail loom doesn’t seem that challenging. This video below helped me add more techniques to the tapestry.
This is literally one of the most therapeutic craft activities. The women in my circle really enjoyed relaxing with this- since life has been especially stressful now. Beginners will be able to catch on quickly, and by project 2, trying the different techniques becomes easier
Thank you for the info and the videos, BB. Can you suggest which of the below would be a good one to start with: https://www.amazon.com/WILLOWDALE-Multi-Craft-Extra-Large-Develops-Creativity/dp/B07ZH96DXS/ https://www.amazon.com/Harrisville-Designs-Lap-Loom-Style/dp/B00000IV3W/ https://www.amazon.com/Melissa-Doug-Wooden-Multi-Craft-Weaving/dp/B00KO6UGXG/ I am leaning towards the last one.
https://www.amazon.com/Harrisville-Designs-Lap-Loom-Style/dp/B00000IV3W/ I have this one. Pegs are better
Ordered the Harrisville loom. Arriving Friday September 25th. : ) Please to put a ruler or something next to projects when taking picture for the benefit of newbies. Thank you. : ) Both of them look easy enough and nice to hang.
