How do people in the US manage laundry? You wear it once and put it in washing machine?

There are 2 adults and 2 kids in our house. I have tons of laundry. Looking for solutions. I put kids clothes in laundry after one use as they spill food on them all the time. Would rather deal with more laundry than mold. Also they have night time clothes and day time clothes and outside clothes. Help..

Yes, kids will mean more and frequent laundry. (Even more than the usual-lot on days when they fall sick).
    Thats the reality.

When I wear something once, it goes for wash. I have 1 college going boy and 1 teenage girl. Washing does become cumbersome. Try to see how far you can go without doing laundry. I have a laundry basket in the common area near the stairs and have a check on whether the bin is overflowing and in desperate need of washing or can I go on for the next day?
I keep a routine of sunday, wednesday and friday. sort regulars with office going clothes. I club those heavy turkish towels with bedsheets. Sometimes you need to do 2 loads a day to keep up the routine.

Everything goes in the wash after one wear, especially in summer. And even more so with kids clothes.

in USA Laundry is not a tough task, compared to vacuuming and mopping. Folding clothes and arranging is time taking, if no time I dump washed clothes in one area and take it from there to wear.

Presoak the stained clothes & rub before you load in washing machine.
Usually outwear , home wear & inner wear.
I wash kid clothes separately and ours separately. 2 times a week makes it easy.
Use mild detergent for office wear

I run one load a week for each member in the household and one for whites only. One for towels and another for beddings. I pretty much have laundry going on a daily basis. Any family with two kids pretty much generate a lot of laundry.
