    Hi,
I am vegetarian but eat egg. Can you tell me what u eat which is less carb and more fat? I have 5 kg to lose. The last 5 kg is very difficult to lose. My weight is Oscillating in losing one kg and gaining back again. I am not losing more . So I started fruit diet one day in a week to make that weight go beyond the stubborn point. Hope I will lose.

happy to know . Usually in intermittent fasting we have to avoid sugar content bcoz during fasting period , our body takes the energy from fat we stored. When we eat sugar, it will block the fat lose. Try to take black coffee without sugar. Initially I had black coffee in fasting window with sugar, I didn’t see any weight change . Later I came to know we shouldn’t take any sugar content in this period,so I stopped. I have to appreciate your 20 hr fasting window. My problem is my mind. I can stay without eating even after 16 hr fasting but my mind when it is 11 am, it keeps on remainding me that fasting over, eat it. It makes me hungry and end up eating at 11.30 am . Also same mind won’t allow me to eat after 7 pm. Let’s see ... my last 5 kg is very stubborn.

QUOTE="blessed, post: 4188075, member: 49767"]I started last month and I am really happy with the results, my fasting window is from 9.pm to 5 pm(next day) and eating window is just 4-hrs I eat one cup of rice , egg/chicken, veggies at 5.pm and at 9 pm some fruits and wheat biscuit or 2 slices of bread(wheat). During fasting hrs I drink one glass of herbal tea, in one month I reduced by 2 kgs and I feel lighter and lost a few inches. I tried so many kind of diets but this is working well for me and motivating me to continue, initially I use to feel very hungry during fasting hrs but slowly I got used to it.

I forgot to mention I have morning coffee with milk and jaggery because its difficult to get rid of this habit and it is also a strees buster[/QUOTE]

IF is not of much help for regular diet. Blame the high carbs. IF with high carb helps only in maintaining the weight.
If you want your scales to move drastically then Keto or LCHF is the only option.
But main problem for Indian vegetarians like us is it’s not sustainable. Been there done that

How about calculating the calories and creating a calorie deficit while eating healthy? I have heard that you have to create calorie deficit in order to lose the weight. I have done that, but not with intermittent fasting. If my requirement to maintain weight is 1300 cal, I would eat only 1100 cals a day. or eat 1300, but burn 250 or so.

Sharing my SO's success and a bag full of ordeal that entailed after IF

My husband did keto IF very religiously 3 years ago. He has an autoimmune condition+ he was on the verge of being diabetic. He had to change his lifestyle and by going IF was the only way for him to get back on the healthier side.

He watched his calories, protein intake. By doing IF he did lose a lot of weight, however, IF started a whole new series of problems for him.
He did weight training + IF and NO rice, no carbs. He ate only protein (eggs, meat, protein shake) + cooked veggies and salad.
See fat bombs recipes+ bulletproof coffee+ eat whole yogurt, whole milk, include butter, ghee in your diet.
Fat Bombs (Keto, Vegan, No Bake) - Chocolate Covered Katie
Bulletproof Coffee Recipe with MCT Oil (The Best Keto Butter Coffee!)

Please break the fast by consuming fat and fiber-rich soup.
For my husband, he didn't break his fast the right way plus he was drinking water and multiple coffees during the day. After he stopped IF, he still does Keto.

His gut is not in balance, he had a series of stomach problems we went to gastroenterologist one year he did an endoscopy and the next year colonoscopy. Everything came out normal but he still in pain. The specialist are not able to pinpoint the source of his pain.

He started going to Naturopath- to figure out the problem. The diagnosis is inconclusive and he may have his stomach lining that he might have hurt during improper methods of breaking fast.

Now he is following the FODmap to recover.

My Rant-For the last 3-4 years, my SO is obsessed with blood tests+food chart+exercise+doc appointments+ non-stop complaints about aches and pain. This is the only talks that we have. I wish there was some sort of reward for the spouse who endures the baggage that comes with changes that SO takes in their life.

RESULTS of IF- oh boy!! my husband got soo ripped by going IF + weight training. Everyone in our family, friends circle said he has changed a LOT. He got a lot of attention. Lot is an understatement. Women actually started to notice him!
During my early phase of marriage- he was addressed as my father and he hadn't even lost his baby fat ever in his life.

My 2 cents- As we grow older, our body takes longer to adjust, adapt, and recover to all the changes. Be gentle to your body and don't rush it. Many cant achieve the expected results even by doing everything right and it's ok.
it's not a failure in not achieving the standard of what social media presents. It's just accepting and understanding what's right for our bodies, as being healthy is not by looking ripped or slim.

thanks. I understand. I am tired of losing weight and again gaining weight when we stop dieting. I have tried 7 days diet, fruit diet, keto, fruit only for dinner, egg diet. I am not consistent with all this diet. My family loves food,I love to cook. So I end up making yummy cheesy foods or junk foods when we starved our body. End up gaining weight again. I want to do something which I don’t have to prepare separately for me and family and also which I can follow without starvingg or losing interest after some time. I felt this IF is good for me to follow it as my lifestyle. I don’t want a slim body but I want a healthy one( I know if I avoid junk, fried food ,I can get it ) . Let’s see .

My experience has been the same. I started with 16/8 around February 5th. Most days it was 17/7. Six days a week. Only water during fast. No weight loss due to IF. I upped my cycle exercise's intensity, burning about 500-600 cals daily, and that helped in losing 1-2 lbs steadily every week or 10 days. Whenever I stopped cycling or reduced its intensity for a week, the weight loss stopped.

The Guide to IF book by Jason Fung and Jimmy Moore says it is when you eat that matters. And claims that IF does not require busy people to make too many changes to their diet, only have to mind when you eat. Not true for me. With IF, my intake remained the same except snacks between meals and junk food eating went down. I had breakfast around 11:30, lunch around 2:30 and finished dinner by 6:30-7. The other benefits of IF were felt but no weight loss.

I wanted to try it, so read the book cover to cover and have been doing it for four months plus now. But, I feel the book was misleading in places. IF does not help with weight loss if the diet is regular and no other conditions like diabetes. At least, not the 16/8 or 17/7 schedule.

I continue to do it 5 days a week for the other benefits but I know that for losing 10-15 lbs over 6-8 months, I need to do other things such as exercise daily burning 500 cals, avoid sugar, drink lots of water, and do something about the white rice or store bought roti/naans that I have for lunch and dinner. : (

Diet should not be considered as a restriction. You should make it as a lifestyle change. Don't quit the change, adapt it to your family's need. That way you will not quit and change for the better.

We too. My family is a big-time foodie. We lived and ate outside all types of food. Fact is my toddler gives me recipes to cook for him, that's how big we are on food. But we eat healthily, no sugar, no junk snacks, no fried food, do not over process food. We stick to salad, portion-sized protein, limited carbs, and ample veggies.
One more thing we started to follow is to eat like "our ancestors".

Nope, the wrong approach. We struggled through this ideology as well. 1 meal 1 family. Doesn't work. my husband and my body type are extremely opposite. I struggled to be on Keto not to mention I have a toddler. So, here is what I did. I came up with strategies to minimize my work while I supported my husband's keto needs. Meaning he had to pitch in to make his bullet coffee and other non-dinner items. I only cook once a day. That is dinner. I pack leftover dinner for the next day's lunch. He makes his own breakfast.

IF is very good, effective plus you need to be very diligent in your food intake+ exercise and not to give up.

That of course is the had part, given our indian vege diet - our protein sources also have considerable carb. I used to take high carb so cutting it to normal levels is itself is hard. I take a bowl of fruits regularly which is so high in carbs, sigh. Struggling to keep it in below 100-110 gram.

I only managed to reduced rice, idli, dosa A while ago I stopped taking gluten so rotis/bread were out anyway. Like I take less than 2-3 ounce cooked rice +1/2 cup lentil/bean with ghee, 2 eggs, 1 cup vegetable cooked , salad , + home made yoghurt. Almost everything I eat has some carbs, sigh!
Dinner will be one small dosa with chutney + ghee+ a bowl of vegetables and my cuppa milk tea with sugar ( this is one guilty thing that I cant cut out yet. I have kicked the morning chai which surprised me )
+ I snack on a handful of nuts, and a cup of fruits . I dont take dates/raisins anymore because of the high sugar. Planning to easy on fruits, and up veges
And that comes to about 1300 ish calories

Well that is most days- what with father's day, and birthdays etc, some dessert also creeps in at times. Baking while fasting is probably the test of strength , :)

My macros are like 35-45% carb, 45-50% fat, 15-20% protein now. A long way to go - want to really cut out sugar. And increase protein

    include paneer and protein shakes.
Eat 3-4 servings of veggies starting from breakfast.
Our breakfast 2 eggs, avocado, chard/spinach Sautee and sauerkraut. My husband drinks bullet coffee with a protein shake along with the mentioned bf.
My husband's Lunch 1 portion meat, substitute with paneer. 1 salad and 1-2 servingveggie.
    Snacks- fat bombs
Dinner- fat soups, 1-2 servimg veggies, 1 portion meat and salad.

On an average day m y husband consumed 7-9 servings of veggies. With 2 servings of meat.
My husband hasn't eaten any form of rice or chapati in about 4 years now. Really proud of him. I will never be able to not eat rice or carbs.
