I used to do 108 Surya Namaskars in about an hour, but it was hurting my knees. As it is I do stationary bike and weight-bearing exercises for weak knees (knee cap used to come out when I was a child).

I wish to do 108 Surya Namaskars again

    Should I use knee brace?

Should I do it slow? I'm concerned it will take 2 hours. This means if I do Surya Namaskar for 2 hours, then I have to skip walking for 2 hours (i.e. 10,000 steps) for the day.

I have only 3 hours to exercise, I cannot spare another minute.

Help! I wanna do 108 Surya Namaskars!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    @SuiDhaaga
I assume you relax for few seconds between successive attempts. Your aim is not to do 108 but each time it is done in relaxed manner. Within available time noe since you get discomfort reduce the numbers suitably so that you do not feel exhausted. 108 is not to be taken in spiritual terms.
    Best wishes
    Thanks and Regards.

    Dear @SuiDhaaga ,

Most knee problems are because of hips. Find time to do some hip openers first. While you may want to do 108 SNs every day, most of us in yoga community consider them only as warm ups for actual asana practice. Shifting your practice to asana will help you progress.

    Hope that helps.

Today I did 108 Surya Namaskars - in separate chunks.

I did each one slow and was conscious of how my knees react. I made sure to do smooth slow movements.

    Hip openers?

    Interesting!

When I do physical for knees, I do hip openers as I feel the urge.

Wow! We do need to listen to our bodies.

Now I am thinking of performing Surya Namaskars before starting any meditation/exercise. Seems intuitive.

I'm hoping to perform all 108 first thing in the morning. To truly greet the Sun!

I do walking meditation, i.e. 2 hours of chanting OM and being mindful.

I do love those Surya Namaskars. Will wait and see, it's Day 1 that I've done 108 since several years. And I'd love to do more Yoga asanas.

    Yoga is amazing!
