    Sambar

    Favourite combinations that our whole family enjoys and prepared often are
    Onion sambar with aloo fry or elephant yam fry
    Rasam with ladies finger roast or aloo roast
    Roti; Masoor dal and sanke guord fry
    Fried rice (any veggies) with Paneer butter masala
    Veg biryani with onion raitha...
    Thats all i can remember now..

    Thanks so much I have not made the yam or snake gourd recipes before. I like in US and have not seen the elephant yam at our Indian market...so you think it would still be good replacing it sweet potato?

    Our usual combos are
    Carrot beans sambhar with alu fry
    Rasam with bhendi.
    Palak kootu with thogayal
    Mor kuzhambu with any veggies or paruppu urundai with beans, cluster beans paruppu usili.
    Sprouted pulses sambhar or side dish with papad.
    Appalam kuzhambu with thogayal
    Milagu kuzhambu with jeeragam rasam and sutta appalam

    1) Vethakozhambhu with potato fry, sprouts salad or moru keerai with spinach
    2) Morukuzhambhu with thogayal and beans/avaraikai parupu usili
    3) Sambar, vendakai or kovakai vathakal kai
    Rasam is must all times

    Simple day to day combinations I love are
    Rice-Dal with aloo or bendi subzi
    Dal fry/tadka dal with roti
    Sambar with aloo or fish fry
    Rice-muddha pappu, avakaya with ghee
    South Indian dal with ghee, pickle and papad
    Rice, muddha pappu and egg Kuzhambu
    Moong-rice kitchdi with kadi
    Tuvar-rice kitchdi with katta
    Rice-curd with pickle
