Tomatoes..how long can it be frozen? Also how about stuff like mint and cilantro? do you cut the veggies and freeze?or just put in frozen section? How about bindi? Can some tips be provided?
From my experience Tomatoes, cilantro, mint - when thawed will give out water and have to be used as chutney, or blended into gravies. Tomatoes cannot be used for salad, and cilantro cannot be used for garnishing. I always freeze for about 1-2 months. Never tried for longer. Here are some links for a few tips on freezing Time management - cooking, cleaning, and exercise Time management - cooking, cleaning, and exercise Time management - cooking, cleaning, and exercise Time management - cooking, cleaning, and exercise Time management - cooking, cleaning, and exercise Bindi - good to cut and then freeze. When cooking it will give out more water than fresh. So we have to just let most of the water evaporate before tossing it with the ladle. Else, bindi will break apart and turn mushy.
I haven't tried to freeze Tomatoes, mint & cilantro. Yes, I have cut the veggies and freeze them. I have these reusable bags from amazon, that I use. It's very helpful to store all sorts of veggies. The longevity of the veggies are very fresh. Right now I have cut 2 bags of okra in the refrigerator. In times like now- I have cut ample veggies, use it first.
I like these freezer bags. At the time I wrote the articles these bags were not there or were unknown to me.
Dont cut onions, I read somewhere that cut onions are bad to be cooked. I peel the skin and keep it in the freeze bags.
