Have you done allergy testing for your DD ? My son had both environmental allergies and food allergies and sensitivities that were causing his eczema to flare up. When he was around 11 we started him on allergy shots and it helped a lot. We also did extensive allergy testing and found he was severely allergic to glycol, glutamate and nickel. Glycol and glutamate are found in a lot of skin care products like cetaphil cleanser and even in eczema ointments. Complete abstinence from products containing glycol and allergy shots made a huge difference to my son’s eczema. When he was younger I would also religiously moisturize him. Vaseline would work best for him. He was allergic to Aquaphor as well. I have read from other sufferers that massaging with borage oil, using a good quality probiotic also made a huge difference. It may be worth a try as well. Good luck !!

    Hi Kavya,
thanks for your reply. No we haven’t done allergy test yet. And like you mentioned w have tried aquaphor, cetaphil, vaseline to moisturize. But wasn’t helping, and didn’t know that’s not suited for all due to allergies. Thanks for the info. By kid is a toddler of 1.5yrs would they give shots to her. Have to check with her pediatrician. Have to try borage...
any home remedies that help like neem or castor oil. Just want to try Ayurvedic approach to prevent side effects. Thank you!

You may want to try homeopathy. My 8 year old suffers from severe eczema. None of the allopathic medicines gave relief. Even after homeopathy eczema is still there. But homeopathy is a long process. It works slowly but is effective than allopathy. Also kefir and home made curd and all other forms of probiotics help. Eczema is something that wont go away easily. But with homeopathy you will have relief from itching and the rashes. Include lots of vegetables and fruits in the kids diet. My doctor said if there asthma runs in the family then eczema is likely to occur and my MIL had asthma. All the best. Hope you find a solution soon. Since my daughter suffers I know how it would be for your child. Take care

:hello:Two or three drops of cottage honey, pure turmeric powder (avoid ready made powder or branded powder which invariably contains a bit chilli or garam masala) and pure coconut oil mixed into a thin paste, slather thinly over the affected parts and leave it for few hours and then wash with cool water .

    2. A friend of mine told, this application offered great relief and reduction in the urge to scratch the affected site.

    3. This was also suggested to diminish and eliminate flare up, irritation and rashness. Heard from Ayurvedic doctor friend. It can be safely tried as it is innocuous to your toddler girl. If you do it while she is fast asleep, take care to avoid sheets getting soiled with turmeric powder that may fall off the affected site as the paste dries up.

    With best wishes.

Your son may be too young for allergy shots. I recommend keeping a food diary. Please keep close attention to his skin reaction with regards to food, nuts, dress material and environment. I would recommend fixing an appointment with allergy specialist. I did try homeopathy and Ayurveda for my son. It did not work out. Homeopathy seemed to initially work and then it aggravated my son’s condition terribly and affected his behavior a lot. My own eczema got cured by complete abstinence from cosmetics and Ayurvedic treatment but I could not find cure for my son.

    Thanks,
    Kavya.
