Please suggest best way to receive money from India to US (besides opening a bank account). Thinking of getting a reloadable prepaid card but don't know if it can be loaded from India. Need a way to receive money from parents without having to go out of the house to cash it etc.
I first convert it to diamonds or aviation infrastructure and spirits and then run away to London with my stash. Just kidding. You might try a service like Xoom.
Without bank account and without going out, I doubt it will be possible. I'd say it is not even feasible to try any such method. Especially if on H1 or GC being processed. I could think of two ways: - get it transferred by Western Union. You can pick up the cash at many locations. Only needs a name, phone number and an ID. - have a reliable friend bring it over when she goes to India. Simplest would be to use Western Union, wired in your friend's name. She can pick up the cash at any WU location and give it to you.
state bank of India has some branches here in us . Maybe you should call them and ask them . They are very helpful .
Bank of Baroada in India have something called "Travel Easy" (or similar sounding brand name) prepaid cards that are reloadable. The person in India (the sender) can find out about it in the local market and advise you.
Wanted to get cash. Western Union required an account with them etc and they would do only wire transfer to bank. No cash, from India. Moneygram too would not 'send money from India to US'. There is no way to directly get cash without a bank account or credit card or something. Just putting it out there in case someone else looks for something like this.
If you have parents or siblings who are willing to help then they can open an bank account in India under their name and get an international debit card and you can use that debit card in US to get cash.
