I recently started my career, after almost 14 years. I started as a C# developer in a small startup company. Now my problem is I don't know how to prioritize my job. Some days, I am feeling so good and somedays so low(feels like quitting the job). Could someone guide me how to feel motivated, as I should feel glad that I got a job after a huge career break
I got back to work recently after a break. It is hard to be motivated sometimes but being at work gives me some “me” time ( not as a mother , wife, daughter, DIL) as a independent intellectual entity. Stick to a schedule and the transition to a working life will be a lot smoother. Take a peek at your bank account when the paycheck comes in, that gives me enough motivation.
I’m moving from a full time 7 day shift work job to a part time 2 days a week job as I was really struggling with balancing work, family and studies. I agree with the advice to have a regular routine/ schedule so that I know exactly what I’m doing.
Congratulations OP. Its not a joke to get back to being a dev in today's market. Accept that you have done a great job during the interview process. Celebrate the success. On your low days, remind yourselves that you have the calibre to get the job done. Watch some YouTube videos to keep up with technology. I follow Edureka..Their videos are easy to understand. If cloud technology interests you read about AWS or Googke Cloud or Azure.. Do whatever but don't let the thought "I want to stay home" get to you. Remember you deserve the job and you are capable to handle it. Wear nice formals - that instantly changes the mood. Buy a coffee - take a moment to smell the fresh coffee and take pride in your job. Try to make friends at work. It's important to have friends at work because you spend 1/3rd of your day at work. Having friends really encourages you to go to work and keeps you motivated.
Getting a Dev job after 14 yrs ?!!!! Your enough motivated already. Getting back after decade is no joke. You have done that. The day today void you can easily overcome think you made it, so you can survive it. Smile often. You should tell us how you made a comeback after 14 yrs. Pls share.
Thanks for your reply. It really made me feel good. The actual problem I am facing is, when a job is assigned to me is : First my thought is oh I Can't do it. I am getting stressed. But I am completing that work. Also this Scrum meeting everyday, really pressurizes me as a beginner. When they ask me u didn't finish yet, I am stressed out. Slowly overcoming it. Please give me some tips here. Also I am working in a German Company, so their mode of Communication is German. Though I know German, I am not very fluent in Business German. So little bit problem in Communicating to tell them, It ll take time to finish a work. Only my project manager is understanding me, as he is a tech person. Since it is a small startup company, non-tech people are more than tech people. Slowly overcoming it.
Thanks for your reply. I worked as a freelancer for 1 year, where I worked with 3 small projects, which helped me in giving an entry(before starting this Job). Also I took part in a Career returners program, where they helped me in improving my soft skills. This is a small startup company. They actually searched for a Experienced person, but they r ready to take me(But it is a one year Contract Job).Slowly keeping babysteps. If you want to know more ,definitely I can write to you
