    I never knew that you were such an avid reader of fiction until I read this confession of yours! I read Kite Runner by accident. I love this novel but it has not made me an avid fan of Khaled Hosseini

    @ashima10
    I understand. Don't ask me if I cried too. Men do not cry in public you know (except Shah Rukh Khan). So I had to rush to the bath room and showered my tears off!
    Back? Never let reading go out of your system for any reason. The Bard said 'If music be the food of love, play on'
    I say it differently. If books be the food of knowledge, read on!

    I read a lot of fiction. Yesterday I finished reading The Girl in Room 105 by Chetan Bhagat!

    Kite Runner is an amazing book. After reading A Thousand Splendid Suns and Kite Runner, I realized the transformation of Afghanistan. Housenni has authored Kite Runner so well that I could picture the country in my head. I remember being transfixed by the book and spent a couple of sleepless nights trying to finish reading it.

    if kite runner and thousand splendid suns made made your heart ache, eye scrunching to stop becoming emotional, sea prayer can make you tear a little more.. it is disappointing because of the few pages, and more illustrations, but if you have been living in the region where people talk about the state of the places in hush hush tones, of stories carried from home through someone close, or a friend of the family, it is really heart wrenching..you end up saying a prayer for all those refugees, who dare to dream of a safer place that can be called a roof over their head..dare they call it home..not sure...

    khaled makes you travel, live through it..

    @Shanvy
    Dear Shan
    I want you to watch this CNN report of the execution of an Afgan woman
    The Taliban atrocities depress people all over the world. Keep all this in mind when you happen to read the book again

    sri, '

    We in a zone(gulf), where media releases are censored and controlled, yet have witnessed a lot on syrian, aghan and more refugees stories, thanks to friends....even had the chance of talking to somebody who migrated to canada, while we were travelling together around malaysia..the stories he had to say about his youth., he was 60...oh boy..and here we complain about so much sitting in india.. infact, that is why it pains me more, when i read these books.
    and abuse of aghan woman.. see those about woman who burn themselves, because they can't take much more..
