Hello sweet ladies I have a doubt. My friend is four months pregnant and she said her doctor said she can have only cesarean and not normal birth. Reason given by the doctor is that she is short. My friend also said that it was the same reason given to her sister and her mother had two cesareans at that time. Is the need for cesarean kind of hereditary? I also want to know the negatives of having a cesarean birth on purpose?
Thats not at all a reason for operation . Please ask her to get a second opinion . Is your friend in India ? I have heard its a money mincing thing there ... Please opt for second opinion . C sec is an opertion which means cutting your abdomen ; it has its effects like any other operation .
She is in India. I have adviced her but she is saying most of the ladies in her family are short and some issue with their pelvic bone.
Leaving it to her decision. I seriously think they have a hereditary condition that is passed on from generation to generation.
Ms star90new, it appears your friend has a very small pelvis such that even a tiny baby will find it difficult to come out; otherwise at 4th month itself obstetric specialist would not have predicted it. Review of the case nearing time of delivery by abdominal scan can confirm findings. Caesarean is not heriditary. No harm by taking second opinion.
Dear OP, I have heard that short people will have csection . But 4 months is too early to determine that. Height is just one reason. They also determine it based on baby's weight by 36 weeks and also if they have any complications. It is definitely good to take a second opinion.
C-SECTION has complications just like other operations. 1) abdominal cut- scar for life Time 2) healing pain for 3 months 3) bleeding for 20-30 days post delivery 4) may start periods later like 5-6 months. Some start late by 1 yr also. 5) if anesthesia given on back, back pain would be there. 6) weight gain as post operation can't do heavy physical workout esp with new born 7) stomach bulging if don't wear belt arouba hip post delivery. Get a second opinion height (most indian females range from 4 11 to 5.5 ft) is not only factor for C-section, she should get another opinion and should go to hospital which are famous for normal delivery.
From my view, its very difficult to plan how delivery will go .. While natural is preferred, having a C-Section is not all bad .. a neutral attitude will help deal with whatever comes. But yeah, definitely get a second opinion when in doubt.
