Mr Peabody (a dog) and Sherman (a human boy) duo is unlike any normal fostering you might have heard of. When the judge rules in the favor of the Nobel prize winner Peabody's favor to adopt a boy when boys could adopt dogs, it is only the beginning of an unpaternatistic parenthood where Peabody scoops up Sherman through his time-travelling adventures in WABAC machine to teach him hands-on or time-on education by inducing the boy to hobnob with the who-is-who in history. That bigger adventure is swept only because Peabody happened to stop one rainy day at a darkly corner alarmed by a mewling voice. He cuddles the abandoned baby deciding to raise him as his own. I don't pay much attention to live-action soundtrack as much as I tune to animation soundtrack. The haze, the droplets, the bright red umbrella on their own could have held the sway of the softening music but the steal is the accompanying vocals in that scene: Life is just what happens to you, While your busy making other plans. The rain plays only an oblique and atmospheric delight in tipping Peabody to step out and walk on the pavement at that hour. But with no rain, no walk, no gurgle, no Sherman in the life of Peabody, life would have not been as happening with just a bunch of fleeting busy plans. I love the cartoon series, the film, and this rain theme in the song also.
