Well said Madam ! Unfortunately, lately in Tamil Nadu Hinduism seems to be targeted by some forces as seen in many incidents. This one seems just one more such case. Whatever rivers/water bodies are there are highly polluted due the industry (TN being one the most industrialised states in India). Cooum river in Chennai is a sewer to say the least. This excuse of pilgrims polluting the river seems facetious. If at all arrangements must be made so that people bathing in large number follow some rules (such as not using bathing soap in the waters etc).

As an outsider to the state and having travelled there recently my observation is that water bodies are not maintained well in TN. Ponds and reservoirs were not desilted and the recent bonus of excess rain in Karnataka and Kerala was all allowed to go the Bay of Bengal.

Well written, @periamma. In our country everything -actions, inactions, reactions, activisms and restrictions are all ill-timed and politically motivated. Nobody has a priority list or an action plan. Politicians and the concerned officials just blabber something whenever jolted out of sleep and go back to snore in no time.:sleeping1::sleeping1::sleeping1::BangHead:

@PavithraS Dear Pavithra happy to see your elaborated reply with given links.Regarding taking idols to the holy dip is not against Aagama rules because every year Sri Nellaiappar and Kanthimathi Amman are taken for theerthavari on Thaipoosam. Then they are kept in a mandap called as Thaipoosa mandapam .River Thamraparani is worshipped amman and HER statue is in Nellaiappar temple .If possible i will add it to media.

Kurukkuthurai Murugan temple is another venue and the govt has banned the holy dip there. If a sudden flood comes there is no safety for the people to escape.silly reason given by them.If the Dam shutters are opened there is a possibility of flood in the river.PWD dept.is in charge of the dam .How will they open the shutters when Puskaram is going on?This show the officials negligence in duty.
I didn't go through the links given by you. After reading fully give my opinion. Thanks ma

@vrikshakadali Thank you for your response you are absolutely right that reservoirs rivers ponds and lakes are not desilted regularly. Every year huge quantity of water flows into the sea. Now people give pressure to the govt to clean up the water bodies. Village people have more awareness now
