Constipation

    Friends,
    what is the solution for constipation? Its really sad to see my sister to spent long time in toilet waiting for her stomach and digestive system to clean.
    Is there any natural solution.

    Eat more vegetables and fruits . Drink lot of water. Do some exercise, like walking for atleast 30 minutes.

    Fibre rich foods will help. Some times egg, chicken etc create issues because they absorbs water and make it hard. Record what one eats everyday, and see any particular food create the problem.

    So try to eat lot of fiber rich vegetables including okra, beans etc everyday. You can try flax seeds, oats etc.. Add more fruits like pear, papaya etc..Reduce the intake of processed and fibre less foods .
    If nothing works use stool softer or laxatives or fibre supplements. If you are in India , ayurveda medicine , "tribhala" can help.

    Try to fix this issue, else it will lead to many other problems in future. So consult a doctor if nothing works.

    Laxatives help like milk of magnesia to get rid of constipation also have Chai seeds it improves the metabolism and there by helping in good digestive system and also aids in excretion..
    Lots of water will improve over all body . When young treat it so that as she grows she would feel better relieved .

    Taking grounded flaxseeds powder 1 tablespoon with water at night helps.

    prune lax at night also works well.
    Triphala powder we get in US also in Indian stores.
    It also works to flush out freely.

    Like others have advised+
    1.Drink lots of water.
    2. Fibre rich foods like whole unprocessed foods, greens, vegetables esp. Gourds, okra and brinjal.
    3. Overnight soaked few raisins, munakka, dates or anjeer first in the morning.
    4. 2 tbsp isabgol or Psyllium husk at night with one or two glasses of buttermilk, juice or water. (I personally advise it in the evening before dinner as this reduces hunger and also the need to wake up at night to visit the toilet.)
    5. Lots of fruits. Bananas, guavas and papayas are particularly helpful.
    6. Walking.
    7. Reducing stress.
    8. Trying to set a routine. Reducing consumption of coffee or tea.
    9. Suppositories or wet soap insertion.
    10. Milk of magnesia 1-2 tsp at night.(can give loose motions)
    11. Consuming 1-2 tbsp of castor oil +2 glasses of warm water first in the morning. (Once in 2 or 3 weeks during summer and less frequently in other seasons) This reduces body heat and also removes a lot of stubborn excreta helping to ease the body. 2-3 times of loose motions will clear the system. (Try only on a holiday) Increase or decrease the dosage as per constitution. If prone to frequent colds, avoid this treatment. Instead apply a little castor oil at night and massage belly button and anal area. Sleep without washing.
    12. Flax seed powder consumption helps many but may constipate a few.
    13. Dulcolax- OTC medicine-1 at bed time.
    14. Consult doctor.

    Through trial and error one has to learn what suits them and regulate the system.

    Including lot of water, coconut water,fresh fruits,vegetable salad,dates, guava, prunes, cranberry juice in diet helps.

    does taking it at night helps? it is heard ti be taken in morning empty stomach.
    If that can be taken at night, then please confirm
