@Sandycandy, LOVED THIS COMMENT 10/10! Sakkare achhu n Sugar candy are the desi n videshi versions of the same sin! But here the desi version seems more lucky! But in the wrapping and presentation department, videshi version seems to fare better. Thanks to super smartness of our Sandy ma'am!
@Rakhii But I haven’t started any OPOS related cooking. Have one doubt since I’m in US and opos cooking needs to be kept in high flame I’m worried if it triggers fire alarm ?
absolutely nothing to worry about. fire alarm gets triggered due to smoke. And OPOS cooking is purely based out of pressure cooker. So there is no smoke coming out. There is a very standard lesson plan Shrav. Chances of you burning a dish is less than 5% if you follow instructions until you are familiar with the technique. Its been a life changer to me.
Paper plates with silver coloured paper....keep 2,3 plates near the vadagams. Another idea which my friend told....keep a folded black umbrella near vadagams. You can try. Syamala
Great thread with nice suggestions, thanks for starting @shravs3 I am not from Karnataka but from neighboring state and we are vegetarians + eggs. Here are some breakfast ideas that I include in our diet: I keep idli/dosa (multi purpose) batter every week on Sunday. - I do Idli on Mondays. - Dosa next day - Uttapam with assorted veggies next day - If I still have batter, I will make Panniyaram by adding some leafy veggies - Other staple breakfast in our home is oatmeal with mixed fruits and nuts powder. - Chia pudding (you can make in multiple flavors, our fav is - 1/2 cup almond milk, pinch of cardomom powder, few saffron strings and 1 tsp honey, soak overnight and add any seasonal fruits just before eating in the morning), this is pretty easy can be done before going to bed. - you can make veggie omelette with besan and mixed veggies - Sooji toast or aloo curry toast or spinach corn toast with in minutes if you have filling ready before night itself - Broken wheat upma or semiya upma or poha For lunch boxes, I prepare curries over weekend and just make rice/roti for me and DH, for kids I make in the morning. And I am also OPOS user, its a life savor, you should join OPOS support group in FB and in no time you will join the pace. Hope this helps. Thanks Sravani
