    Hi friends, please suggest some good weekend trips in and around Bangalore. I am particularly interested in popular historical places, wildlife sanctuaries if any, nature hike places etc. Please give some info about safe and enjoyable places for day trips.

    Recently I had been to chikmagalur..this is a nice weekend getaway from bangalore. It is more of cofee estate ..and slightly at a higher altitude than bagalore. From here babubudangiri, Mulayanagiri and sheetalgiri are closer site seeing destinations. Also you have the kemmangundi hills also nearby.nice place to visit .There are good resorts in chikmagalur like the wintergreen, golf club,and taj and the top one is Serai(belongs the cafe coffee day group).The resort is too good with each room/villa having its own pool.

    The attraction is it is just 5 hrs drive from bangalore..[​IMG] on your way you can cover Belur and Halebid and Sravanabelagola. ​

    Wild life,
    U can visit
    1. Iruppu Falls (Lakshmana Thirtha). It is in Coorg. U can Opt this for day trip. A picture square.
    2. Nagarahole Forest. accom is also availabale
    3. Bandipur wild life

    For 2-3 days - Nature paradise and also Historical places,
    1. Madicari
    2. Sringeri, Horanadu, Kalasa (Chikkamagalur Dist)
    3. Kukke, Dharmastala, Charmadi Ghat, Agumbe Ghat Much more....

    For a day trip u can go to,
    Muthyala maduvu - a very nice place to play in water. River Cauvery flows here. it is 60km from Bangalore towards Kanakpura.

    You can also visit <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:smarttags" /><st1:place w:st="on"><st1:placeName w:st="on">CHAMPAKADHAMA</st1:placeName> <st1:placeType w:st="on">TEMPLE</st1:placeType></st1:place>.

    Its located in a distance of 20KM from <st1:City w:st="on">Bangalore</st1:City> towards <st1:Street w:st="on"><st1:address w:st="on">Bannerghatta Road</st1:address></st1:Street> (<st1:place w:st="on"><st1:placeName w:st="on">Bannerghatta</st1:placeName> <st1:placeType w:st="on">National Park</st1:placeType></st1:place>). This is dedicated to Lord Vishnu. Its 12th century and was built in 1257 during Hoysala period under the ruler Tamilarasa. There is also a temple dedicated to Lord Narasimha and Lord Sampangi on the hillock behind the temple.

Where you should walk in the mid of the forest and can enjoy each and every step of your walk. Its amazing ride to enjoy.

    There are many tourist places to visit from Bangalore. You can visit Mysore, Srirangapattana, Nandi Hills for a day trip. For 2 or 3 day trips I recommend Ooty, Coorg, Wayanad, Chikmagalur, Goa, Puducherry, and many.

    In monsoon Ooty, Wayanad, Puducherry, and Goa are not the best options. Coorg & Chikmagalur you can visit in any season. Wayanad is one of the best hill station, more places to see and less crowded, Find Wayanad Tourist places list here.

    Chikmagalur has India's first coffee estates, You can visit in any season, picturesque landscapes, trekking options, best home stay options available in coffee estates, find more about chikmagalur and places to visit in Chikmagalur here.
