    Re: please advice.

    Hi..
    you can take one tablet daily with a meal of your choice ( either after lunch or dinner) The recommended dosage of folic acid for all women of childbearing age is at least 400 micrograms (mcg), or 0.4 milligrams (mg).
    good luck !!!

    Folic acid supplement before Pregnancy

    Dear Friends
    Of late, one of my friends said that we must take folic acid tablets before planning to conceive. These days doctors prescribe it when you plan for pregnancy.In my case, I remember after pregnancy, i was given folic acid tablets. My friend also said that taking folic acid before planning will avoid major problems.
    Can you throw light on this topic please?

    Re: Folic acid supplement before Pregnancy

    My gynec also suggested folic acid before pregnancy..
    This is what i read from internet...
    It is a vital raw material for production of red blood cells, as well as norepinephrine and serotonin (chemical components of the nervous system). Folic acid also helps to synthesize genetic material in every cell of the body and normalize brain function. Taking folic acid before conception reduces the risk of neural-tube defects such as spina bifida.

    @happydheivanai

    You should take folic acid no matter what your DH's sperm counts are or what your reports say. It is important for the development of the fetus and to prevent any major complications. Good luck.
