    Hi ChitVish,
I love anything containing Karamani! I used to make either sundal or add it to kootus. You would have seen my FB of Karamani Gashi which i simply adored! Can you post more recipes on karamani, or give me ideas about different dishes in which I can add them?

    Thanks so much

    Dear Sudha,
Me too - same pinch!! You can make pumpkin-karamani eriseri which I posted recently. You can make vadai with it just like Ulundu vadai, adding half ulundu & half karamani.Make NI dhal, with minimum water & later adding all masalas. Just mash a few to give thickness.
    Love,
    Chithra.

    Dear Chithra,

Kindly tell me a few recipes nonveg or veg. My husband keeps having acidity problems after he eats any food. He tells his stomach is kind of burning. I use very little spices though.Any tips on what kind of foods can i make for him ?

Re: Tips on foods for acidity

    Dear Leena,
Eat small frequent meals to load the stomach less at a time;have plenty of raw foods, salads, juices;mik, curds & paneer suit only some individuals - so make your judgement;drink plenty of water & plenty of buttermilk, a great reliever of acidity.
Juice of one lemon mixed in 1/2 glass of water & 1/2 tsp sugar if consumed before meals relieves acidity.
Fresh mint juice taken every day or fresh mint leaves boiled in a cup of water and sipped slowly after meals also helps to keep the stomach acids at bay.
The juice of onions is excellent for acidity. Have them in salads.
Sherbet made with kokum & a pinch of jeera added is excellent.
    Love,
    Chithra.

    Dear Mami,

I read couple of articles about cauliflower dosa and banana dosa(served at residency and dakshin restaurants for dosa mela). Very curious to try it. Please post it whenever you find time.

    Dear Vidu,
I have given banana dosa - please see the index.
Cauliflower dosa - I do not know.Last evening I went to Southern Spice in Dakshin for a demo. What they showed as banana dosa was:
Equal amts of mashed banana & jaggery, mixed with just enough rice flour & maida for binding & dropped in oil & deep fried - this was called dosa!!Rant
Please do not go by the 5 star names!!
    Love,
    Chithra.

    Chithumma, My dear Adharsha Mangai,

    Hope you already posted it.

Let me tell you what it is. It is a deep fried snack of chettinadu and was served during a marriage for evening snack with curryleaves thuvaiyal. It was ultimate and chanceless. It is called thavalai vadai, I think, with dhals and somethingelse. But, not sure. It looked more like, 'kunukku', but little flatter.

I was not old enough to research what it was. Now, trying my level best to find out.

Pudhir madhiri, I'm asking...have any idea?

    Love,
    Your Picturesque Friend.
