I have a close friend who has been diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis. While she is taking allopathic medications, I am wondering if other members have tried alternative remedies with success (in addition to allpathic)?

I know there is good treatment in Ayurveda, namely Guggal. Homeopathy also has some remedies. Please post if you have experience in these or know of specialists who know of these remedies.

An advice from a person who knows the seriousness of this auto immune conditions: Even though other medication used, your friend should go and see her rheumatologist once in 6 months or more (if condition is not good.) Few blood tests to keep track of disease and medicines side effects is needed.

Yoga and exercises regularly helps a lot in keeping body flexible in this condition.

It is a combination of medicines, based on severity. Doctors try few times to fix on meds

Tried kottakkal Ayurveda hospital in Kerala. No relief. It didn't work for me, I didn't go again to change medicines.

Everybody's RA symptoms different, react differently to medicines, even to allopathy.

If you have a trusted doctor in Ayurveda or homeopathy she can try there, but now a days some cases read that they mix steroids in Ayurveda medicines, so afraid to believe them unless doctor is reputed.

I know two my friends with this condition. They use Methotrexate and consult rheumatologist very often . I heard that this is one of the medicines with less side effects. They have tried modern medicine and also ayurveda including massage. But it is not useful for them.
They do yoga and now exploring diets/ naturopathy. Dairy free, gluten free and sugar free and no processed foods. Lots of fresh vegetables and fruits. There is no permanent cure for RA. Each one and case is different. So a trial and error method may help one to manage. My friends feel that diet will help even if progress is slow. Sorry to hear that your friend is also facing this tough situation. Hope she feels better.

So true diet plays big role in managing the disease, all those sugary processed food is inflammatory to body, observe and avoid which causes pain and stiffness.

Naturopathy helped me too, like veg juice etc. but these all supporting things, real disease control medicines should not be avoided even she feels good for some days
