1)As usual, sensational reporting by the media.
2)The judges colouring their ruling with personal opinions.

This ruling is based on cruelty as rightly so....but should have kept unnecessary and misleading sanskari gyan to themselves.
1)She tried to commit suicide which can be a harrowing experience for a partner, and made baseless accusations of adultery...both grounds for divorce.
    2) She was accused of" for the sole reason that she wants to entirely enjoy his income" which she did not counter.this goes against the law that states that children have too provide for the parents in old age.

This is a case specific ruling that cannot be applied to normal cases because
1)It goes against the principal of equality.

2)It says "she cannot ask for separation without justifiable reason".Justifiable reason can also be nagging and ragging.

3)It fails to take into account the contribution of the woman's family and her duty towards her parents. Unless the guy is ready to let her parents too live with them.....this is discriminatory.

4)It reduces woman to secondary citizens with no choice on how to live their life...a bt like bondage(since it takes away options )

    5) This ruling is based on her not wanting husband to provide financial support to dependent parents(which again is cruelty). If the son is providing financial support within reason.

Without the added cruelty accusations...this ruling would would not be made .

Although this is a case specific ruling.....
1)This will result in more woman coming forward to complain about harassment that they tolerate in the hope of a better day in future. Why tolerate if there is no hope.

2)More divorces and rightly so.....people with such stark differences should not lve together and spoil each others lives.

3)This will result in more talks about the "joint family option only" before marriage...specially women who have options.

4)Women will finally want to know about their rights in th joint family home if that is the only option available.

5)Men wanting "joint family option" will have to start compromising on other fronts .

    6) Unfortunately..this kind of statement will increase female infanticide cases .

No wonder we still have female infanticide.

My take on this, stay separately from both parents but make sure you fulfill your responsibility to both parents.

The bride and groom should have a open discussion on such issues before they get married to avoid problems after marriage

I have never understood this concept. I dont have sons. So I should not have the audacity to think anyone will look after me in old age. And whats this about parents working hard to educate their sons. Do they think the daughters came into this world at their marriageable age and not as babies? Maybe, it all boils down to money in our society ? In many rural places, parents spend more on the son's education while girl child is not sent to school. Going by that logic, this judgment makes sense. The parents do "deserve" a return on their investments from their son. I would say "poor sons". Parenthood is a sacrifice only if you have a son?

When you have lawyers like this who become judges then there is no doubt the Indian judicial system will go to dogs

    Are supreme court judgements challengable?
This is typical of madras law college. Several are goons.

Seriously a bad judgement especially generalizing it. What happens to the Girls and Boys are equal these days,Go to work ,Get payckeck?? Girls need to be educated go to work bring lots of gold because their parents are sinners.

Guys parents have fallen from heaven and hence this privilege.

Shame on the supreme court verdict.
