What I like about Chennai is the SUN! If you survive in hottest and humid climate of Chennai, You can live anywhere in the world. Only city where people love sports to the core. We watch IPL no matter if Chennai is in or not! A city which stood back brave after a drastic El nino.
Mylapore is the best place for quality eateries where one can get good South Indian stuff without making a dent in your pocket. Mami's mess, Karpagambal mess, Jannal Kadai Baji stall are some of the best places to eat. Mami's mess offers Kozhukattais both sweet and the kara variety on Friday evenings. Tired after having a glimpse of Kapaleeshwarar and Karpagambal temple- barge in, into any of these eateries and have your fill. Agatha83
Chepauk Stadium Oh the numerous cricket matches that were enjoyed here There is a vinayagar temple in Govt qtrs on Mount Road Chennai. It is a Thandonri Vinayagar on big Banyan tree. Can't find it on google
Though I am a Tamilian I have not actually lived in Chennai. My entire life has been in Hyderabad. But all my Mother's side relatives were/are in Madras. I always loved this city with its 'gundumali','tenga maanga pattani sundal' and beautiful music culture. It is what I call 'Tamiz manam'. Though I married a gentleman from Andhra, we shopped together in Chennai at Nallis and Kumaran for silk sarees for our wedding. And part of our honeymoon trip covered Valluwar kottam and Beach. And of course, the lovely Ashtalakshmi temple in Adyar. I can never forget our visit to the 'Arupadai Veedu' of Lord Subramanya. Now Chennai has become more cosmopolitan with cross cultures and the atmosphere is really good. Though I love Hyderabad because it is my home town, Chennai is always special for me
Belated happy birthday wishes CHENNAI @Induslady beautiful pic of Chennai and Madras Always love this great city. In my young age whenever we made to this city Old Wood Lands Hotel was our permanent stay place. Purchasing my loved kolapuri chappals in the bazaars was great fun which we don't get now at all. My favourite simple Rasi silk Saree too I miss now. Old is Gold

At Triplicane, pycroft’s road between Rathnam cafe to Presidency collage at marina beach there were over eight hotels and for one idli all hotels were providing me one medium bucketful sambar for one Anna ( 1/16 of a ₹) . I used to to demand more and more sambar with small onion while idli remain untouched. Today it is ₹ 15 to 40. Madras நல்ல மதராஸ். Regards.
