The gentle breeze put her hair in a disarray. The tree where she rested upon, was shedding its leaves on her, as always. The river which was much wider earlier, still ran, though the water was not that pure. She found that the tree had grown up just like her, but its rate of growth was much higher. She could not now make her fingers meet while hugging the trunk.

Her favourite smile was back. She was never an eye turner, but when she smiled, she was lovely to watch. And she used smile for various occasions in her life. Now, being lost in a trance, she smiled again. There were a few crows fighting among them and a couple of stray dogs barking too, but her trance was not disturbed.

Her parents used to take her when she was so small [she did not remember much about them] and leave her to play as long as she liked. She was all smiles then. And she was smiling when her uncle took her to a new place after their demise. She was soon sent to that 'special' place where she had to accept a few harsh things. But instead of crying, she smiled again.

Now at 60, and being back at the same place where she was, when her parents were alive, she smiled. With disheveled clothes and hair, being abused / ignored by almost all she faced, she smiled again. The tree blessed her with a leaf, that rested on her head.

The queen was, is and will always be the same.

A lovely story rgs.............impressive..........I feel that if we take all the incidents in life with the same stride may be our disappointments in life would be minimum............but is it possible? Good one as always......... I loved the last line in green

As always, impressed throughly by your speedy response Dhivya. Thanks a lot. And the point you mentioned is quite correct. This story is even more deeper. One of the few stories that I never liked to end this short, but can't help it. Thanks again. -rgs
