Yes..India has rich people who are able to spend lavishly and has enormous number of poor people as well...

Sad that the poor ones are forgotten by those who are rich..Would be good if they are helped as well..Atleast annadaan would be great way of sharing the enjoyment..

Anyhow New year is as per English/Western calender..I usually don't do much, except going to temple..

Others have New Year as per their regional calenders ( for myself Tamil New Year is in April) which I like to celebrate more than the English one...JMO..

Dear Satchi,

We are not old Satchi, it is just that this amount of money being spent on a night is obscene, irrespectiove of how much u have. in country with so many people hand to mouth, to do this is a crime.

Yes each moment is a new year, enjoy as long as u live.What better than fresh food made and fed with love. But this few will understand.

I suppose we are getting old Kamalji and so after so many new years we see the futility of it all. Like Viswa says, each day is a new year, in fact, I'd say, each moment is the beginning of another year. So what's so special that one blows up money so mindlessly while so many are starving and why would one choose to get sozzled to their gills and end up in accidents on the roadside? Like you, I too love to just stay at home and spend my time just like any other day.

Totally agree with you kamalji. While growing up, our New Year eve and the New Year was just watching the special program on the television.

Now, we meet with our friends, have pot luck dinner and then watch the TV for the new year. No one drinks so no problem with that. In the morning, we go to the temple. This is the same ritual for the calendar new year or our hindu new year.

i completely agree to what u said and i myself dont get answer that why people spend so much just for a day. it is total waste of hard earned money. yes we should enjoy and celebrate with close family members and in moderation.
people i see around in new year and i feel gone mad or what. what is use to throw money on such parties and hangouts...
the sad part of our country is rich are getting richer and poor getting poorer..

ya sometimes looking with FB updates i feel people roam and enjoy just to show or so that they can post on social sites..
ya and there should be limit to everything.
one on my cousin went for honeymoon and started posting snaps from airport then beaches and hotel room etc.till they returned back..hahaha....i was just shock to see that people now a days have so much craze to update their freinds and relatives. they have forgot living life for self..i think people are living for others nowadays..remeber our parents taught us..live for others....LOL
