    Hi all
One of my aunt's who had been in the education field (teaching line) for 17 years, now took break from teaching. She is a knowledge bank and wants to share the same. Now she is interested in book publishing and wants to publish self-written educational books like key books (guides), story books and activity books for children.

She wants to know the procedure for the same. Do she need to take any permission from the govt for the same.

Pls provide your expert guidance / suggestion and help her to publish her own books to help the student community.

    Thanks in advance.

She wants to write in English or regional languages, or both?

Is the writing thing being profitable a necessity? If the experiment ends up costing more than it gains, will that be a major hardship?

Getting published requires lot of research, reaching out to people, and many rejections. Self-publishing is another option - google that to see the wide range of options.

Try to look for smaller publishing places like Tulika Books: Manuscript Submissions

Honestly, she may need to look at the existing stuff on the topic, and see whether what she can write will have much demand. Not to discourage, but the urge to write is quite common, everyone has a story, and knowledge they can share, but, with the internet, almost everything is easily available too.

Other options are she can start a blog or website that caters to a certain category of parents & children, build a following and then convert some of that to a book or other 'compiled' format.

Lastly, becoming a known name, in an existing medium, or popular website, say Wikipedia, will help before venturing into actual book writing.

More lucrative might be if she can leverage her education line experience into becoming an 'education consultant' kind of service provider.

    Thank you Rihana
She want to write in English. Her main areas are CBSE notes (General Science, Social and English), GK / Quiz, Worksheets / Activity Books. She don't want to publish books just for making money but at the same time, she can't go on losses. She will be contented with small earning through her publishing.

Lastly, she is not interested in blogging. So, it is up to her to decide.

Any idea on how to approach the publishers / publishing companies? And any popular ones?
