When i was in search of these worms, i simply bought some good soil, from the nurseries..the soil had a few of them which did help me in making my own compost.

another option i can remember is BEL the organisation that produces manure from garbage..google for subash and bel..

another one is checking at the amm research centre in taramani. i was told that they may help.

    Hi Shanti,
Thanks for your inputs. BELL said they dont have worms right now. As for AMM institute I will check it out tomorrow (working hours!)
Thought of starting with your first idea simultaneously. Do you know any nurseries that sell good compost near Kilkattalai/Medavakkam area?

    Thanks
    Aanandhi

    anandhi,

are you familiar with the medavakkam main road. when you come down from mount station, before the vanuvampet junction, just beside the sakthi used car show room, there is this new nursery..(not so new ) i think they can help you.

I am planning to put a small vermicompost bin in my home to process my home wastages. I am finding it difficult to get the compost worm.
Can anyone help me by providing some worm for my bin.
    I am located in Chennai.

I have started my terrace garden (a balcony garden though) and I also need this... I am searching for the same... When I Googled, it brought me here. I live near Vanuvampet (Nanganallur). I am planning to grow worms (and give it for free). Will post here, once I have a handful of worms.

I think I saw one worm in the plant bag (when I bought it from a nursery). But how to find whether it is there (I have already placed it inside a pot)

I bought it from CIKS near vedanthangal.
I kept them in 3 pots.
Then reduced it to 2 pots. Rat spoiled most of my worms. I have covered
Now in one pot there are very few.
In other pot it seem to be comparatively good.
I am using normal medium sized mud flower pot.
If you are in to it, could you tell me the issues that you are facing and describe about the container that you are using.
I am planning to change it to some other bigger plastic tub kind of container.
