Don't worry that children never listen to you; worry that they are always watching you. - Robert Fulghum

In this fast paced world, kids are exposed to a great deal of things - school, television, internet and more. But even today, Parents are one of the biggest influences on a kid.

They watch us everyday and subconsciously pick up things that we do. And we do strive our best to teach the best values to our kids through our actions and words.

Is there a moral value that you have always insisted that your children should follow? Something that you believe will stick with them forever and help make them grow into responsible adults?

Never give up. Failures may come still we should not hesitate to try new ventures.

Anyway, so thoughtful thread. I will get an opportunity to open my perspective on reading other parents views. Thanks IL!

MY DD is 2.5 yrs now.

Some small things which I teach her ( though I am yet to explain its meaning and importance to life).
    1. To do namaskaram in front of lamp and also say to elders.
    2. To never stamp papers/ food by our foot and worship them.
    3. That nobody knows everything expect God.
    4. To say Sai Ram before going to bed.

She hugs me once in while and says " thanks amma so much, I love you"... I don't know whether she understand all this....

Integrity to me is of utmost importance.

I go ballistic if my child makes a mistake but doesn't own it up. I thank her when she takes respnsibility for her mistake and help her fix the problem caused. Any sneakiness or bullying or twisting facts or tweaking the dice, I get to the bottom of the problem and ask her why she would do something like that. We talk until such time she figures out by herself how to fix the issue she caused.

I hope all this stays with her as she grows up.

He is still 2 years, for now honesty he can learn by watching us and surroundings, I give importance on his surroundings, like what he watching in tv etc

1.Try, try and try again. I get so many occations in my own life to demonstrate that.
2.Replace the things in its own position, so that we can save so much time searching for that item next time.
3.Respect elders, dont waste food, water, electicity, later will teach money.
