A friend's family is coming into town a couple of weekends from now. They are flying in on Friday night and are leaving Monday morning. What would be a good itinerary for them. When your friends and family visit Austin for a weekend, where do you typically take them and what do you do? Appreciate the help.

Here is one that I could see happening.

    - Saturday Morning - Captial + Bob Bullock Museum
    - Lunch somewhere light in downtown
    - Walk or stroll around town lake and rest in one of the parks there.
    - Get to 6th Street and enjoy Austin on Sat evening. Crappy dinner in downtown.
    - Sunday morning, wake up late.
    - Visit one of the Austin temples - Sai Baba, Hindu Temple etc.
    - Come home, freshen up, dinner in Chuy's
    - Come home, pickup, watch a movie
    - Monday morning leave!

    Simi,

This definitely sounds like a plan!

    Sonu,

Depending on whether your friend's family has kids, I would suggest including some age appropriate kid friendly places too for a day.

    Like,
Hamilton pool - includes trails, water falls and lake
Innerspace caverns - one of the best preserved caves in Georgetown, TX (N. of Austin)

    Hi,

You may want to take the free historic tour of downtown on one of the days. It will not take more than an hour.

May be I would do this after lunch (as per Simi's plan for Saturday) and then stroll around the lake and rest in one of the parks.

    Regards,
    Roshni
