That is absolutely right and i couldnt agree more as to become a parent is the biggest decission in life and a life long commitment. If you dont want to have a child you wont be a good father and wont have the best impact on your child, i dont mean to be rude but thats simply sadly true.... rejected kids suffer.
I dont agree that your wife will come over it like women who can not have children due to physical reasons do. First i dont think all them do just overcome it and go on. And moreover your wife is in fact able to give birth which is a complete different situation.

My point is that soemtimes in life things happen that dont go as we want. Sometimes we find out we cant physically have kids , or sometimes we find out that our husbands dont want kids. Here the situation is out of OP's wive's control.

You make the choices that circumstances allow you to... and then you move on.
She always has the choice to leave , if she deems that kids are more important to her.

But my opinion is that forcing (maybe via blackmail, guilt tripping, passive aggressive behaivour) OP to agree to having kids is wrong.
