Diet in pregnancy

    Dear Ilites.

    I am 4 weeks pregnant can anyone help me to figure out a good diet and nutrition plan necessary for healthy pregnancy, also please let me know what all things I should avoid.

    Here is what I had been suggested:

    To do:
    Prenatal vitamins
    Calcium rich foods (like milk/cheese/yogurt)
    Iron Rice food (greens)
    As much fresh fruit and veggies as possible
    proteins rich food like chicken/tofu etc
    drink as much water as possible

    Avoid:
    Anything with mercury content (like some kinds of fish)
    caffeine (like coffee/coke etc; limited quantity should be ok
    smoking and alcohol

    Hi ladies,

    Congratulations on your pregnancy, I am 6weeks pregnant, I was asked to avoid spicy food and caffeine products and to have food in regular intervals(min 2hrs) and dont forget to do walking atleast 30-45mins in a day,Plan your diet as per schedule,EAT Healthy,Be Positive&Live Happily!!!!

    There are certain nutritional requirements that will develop once you are pregnant. Your little one will need consistent nutrition in order to develop and become strong. Eating a healthy diet in pregnancy really is not hard in fact it is fairly easy. To ensure you have the proper nutrients, eat plenty of fruits, grains, vegetables and some meat or proteins.

    It has got a whole list of foods and beverages that are good during this time for us mommies. I, for one, most definitely liked this detailed article. It will help me chalk out my diet plan better.

    Also if you have gestational diabetes or high blood pressure - it tells you what to eat then.
