Hi dearies, A friend of mine does not have an oven, but would like to try steaming a cake and she has asked me recipes for an eggless cake. I do have one or two recipes, but I normally bake the cake in a proper oven. Now, my doubt is, can this same recipe be followed if the cake were to be steamed in a pressure cooker without whistle? Also, can water be used instead of salt or sand in the pressure cooker? Most sites said sand...Please suggest. :help Thank you....
Hi.... Here's the cooker cake :- and that too Eggless....... Ingredients 2 cups flour 2 1/2 tsp baking powder 1/2 cup butter 1 1/2 cups sugar - powdered 1/2 water 3/4 cup dahi 1 tsp vanilla essence 1/4 tsp salt 2x9 inch round or square cake tins [h=3]Method[/h]Line the base of the tins with butter paper or grease the bases and dust either with maida or sugar till well coated. Sift the flour and baking powder and transfer into a mixing bowl. Add the salt, sugar, butter, water and vanilla. Beat the mixture using a wooden spoon or a beater till well blended. Add the dahi to the cake batter and beat till smooth. The batter looks almost glossy when done. Transfer the batter into the two tins. Heat the pressure cooker (empty), covered but without the pressure for 3-4 minutes on high heat, then place one cake tin in it. Cover again without the pressure, lower the flame and let cook till done (about 1/2 an hour). Repeat with the other tin. Serve. Key Ingredients: All Purpose Flour, Vanilla Essence, Salt,Sugar, Yogurt, Butter, Baking Powder
RKG Using water is not at all a god idea too much moisture and as it will make the cake top sticky. Many threads with the same tittle so please do check in the same forum itself,eg.. http://www.indusladies.com/forums/recipe-central/128424-cake-baked-in-pressure-cooker.html Please check this post of mine, steaming method given http://www.indusladies.com/forums/cuisines-of-india/243195-how-make-cake-using-steamer.html Thanks.
