    what r the advantages and disadvantages for child who born in usa but living in india?

    m looking areas such as educational fees in india,property matters.

    Hi,
    US born child with US citizenship comes under NRI quota in India in school and college seats,so fees is high.If you cancel the US citizenship then Your child will be treated as Indian.I don't have personal experience on this issues these are some information get from friends

    I am also waiting to hear.

    I am expecting my baby in Jan 2015 and unable to decide whether we should apply for indian passport or American passport and then PIO.

    Hi OP,

    The only issue heard as of now is NRI fee in some of the schools (I heard they do this when school is in high demand, as of now heard only about one of school in Bangalore) and colleges. But being a NRI, most of professional college will have NRI quotas as well.

    you mean after birth we can select indian/us passport for baby?u mean once i select us passport ,my baby is us citizen?
    i also heard that schools demand for huge donation for us born.
    Als heard that us citizen can not have property (home,farm,land etc)on their name.is that true?

    I have a friend who is american by birth but did all her high school & degree in India. She then went to US for doing phd. She just applied to a college and booked a plane ticket and didn't went through any hassles of taking student visa or any paper work or going to a consulate for interview. As for educational fees she studied in a known private school and like most middle class people in India will sent their children in such a school. I have seen most NRIs investing in India to buy a property. I don't know any disadvantages though.
