    Dear Friends,

I am pregnant after some long struggles. Touch wood things are going fine so far. My anamoly scan is scheduled next week. Today I suddenly noticed swelling in my right feet, I know its common in pregnancy, but is 18 weeks not too early for this? My water in take is good and I am walking 30 minutes everyday. So for other tests are good, I am meeting my doctor next week. Any inputs from you experienced ladies is appreciated.

Thanks Priya. I do sit at work, so far I didn't experience any swelling. My weight gain is just 1.5 kgs so far, I am worried as I have heard swelling starts in 3rd trimester, but why in 18th week for me.

It depends on individual..this is my 2nd pregnancy and even with my 1st kid,I had swelling during second trimester (don't remeber week but it was in 5 or 6th month).

That time my dr suggested to dip feet in warm water (mix little salt) for 30 min before going to bed. This worked me last time . This time i didn't try just because of laziness and my DD

I am not sure which trimester swelling happens. But I read somewhere that rotating each foot clockwise & anti-clockwise (8-10 times in each direction)helps reduce swelling. I have done that and could see the difference though it is a temporary relief. See if it works.

I tried keeping my legs elevated while sleeping last night, that has brought relief. Also I have further increased my water intake, and cut my salt in take to half. I used to take 2 biscuits along with my tea, stopped that too now. I am hoping this will help me keep sweeping under control .

As aarth0203 Suggested you can keep ur legs on pillow while sleeping and sit in vajrasana for 5 mins. These will help in reducing swelling. And regarding 3rd trimester swelling it depends on person to person. And also if you are sitting in wrong positions can also led to swelling.
