Good luck Riya's mom you can do it !!!!:2thumbsup:

Vanathi...sorry cannot help you out in the teething dept ...still have a baby with a toothless smile

I will post the recipie for both the sabji and dhal in the food session under the 9 month food thread.

Oh Latha..DH are hilarious...they get so much more tensed than we do during the whole labor process. The whole time after I get a contraction or have the nurse examine me I would turn to DH and ask him if he was okay.. he was soo tensed.. when the baby finally came out.. he was too nervous to even hold it !! I was half cut up and had to force him to hold the baby and tell him it was okay ....before I had LO and anyone used to ask me if I had any children I would tell them "yes and he is 6 ft tall :)" He is truely the first baby in the house !

Thanks, Latha and everybody else cheering me on. :)

Latha, I had a normal delivery, once the baby is out it doesn't hurt at all. Unless of course you tear, which I did pretty bad so I got third degree stitches. BUT it doesn't happen to everybody, I had a previous surgery done so my Ob said part of the reason I tore so bad was because of that. So don't worry.

Good luck, hope everything goes well. Can't wait to see and hear about your little one!

    raj,
all the very best for your studies! you can do it girl!
    vanathi and priya,
for uma i started brushing her mouth with baby toothpaste and baby brush (the one worn on finger) when she was 7 months old...before that, from 4 mnths i used to wipe her gums and tongue with plain wet cloth every morning...at 7 months when i started giving her egg yolk, her mouth started smelling of it...i hate that smell so started using paste and brush even before she had any signs of teething...i find the brush very good at cleaning the white coating on her tongue...
latha, hugs to you girl....dont worry, everything will go fine....
vanathi and dlaascw, for uma's 1st birthday, we had a lunch party at a italian restaurant here on sunday (her bday was the next day) we got her cake made from one of the best cake shops in HK...it looked very cute and tasted sooooooo yummy that each and everyone that came to party left licking their fingers...dallascw, that is a fantastic idea to have a special cake for LO to mess up with...wish we had thought of that!
my parents want to do her ayush homam next month in their place..lets see if it will work out...
BTW girls, my dad just called me few mins back to say that he's got uma's horoscope written by our family astrologer...it says that uma will study abroad till she is 9 yrs old and then we will go back to india...yippppeee...i like that! then looks like she might have a brother when she is 3 yrs old...i seriously dont know if i can handle that...basically i'm a very lazy person for whom one of the most important things in life is SLEEP...bonkbonkbonkmaybe in two yrs i'll change into this loving supermom who can handle another child...

    Hi Vidhya,
I'm drooling seeing the cake.No wonder people were licking their fingers when they left the party. My father is also astrologer. But generally does'nt see for his own kids.I don't know what fate holds for us.But I'm planning to go back when Sakthi reaches 6 years.Lets see...
If predictions go right we can expect a baby news soon from you.
I generally use my fingers for brusing Sakthi's teeth. Then I bought a tooth brush and a children orajel paste.I always make her stand with me when brushing teeth at night. So now she has become a Pro at brushing. She spits up like anything and googles well.I think its better to allow kids to watch then they will stuff by themselves. Now she has her own stool to climb and brush her teeth.
    Bye

priya, you're welcome...the finger brush will save your fingers from the little piranha teeth, also it is easy to reach the insides of mouth..

mangai, even i'm :drool thinking about her cake...it was chocolate cake with layers of fresh cream filling and icing....just melted in the mouth!
nice to know that your father is an astrologer...this prediction of a girl and then a boy for us is already there in both our nadi josyam tapes...we got our nadis done seperately before our marriage proposal came about...most of the predicitions are coming true...

we certainly dont want to settle anywhere abroad for good...somehow we dont see oursleves living outside india for a long time...lets see..

even for us the morning brushing ritual is fun...she loves watching me "eee thechufying" and then when it is her turn she comes running to show her mouth...but all she does is to suck the paste (yummy apple-strawberry flavoured) out of brush...my finger feels like inside a vaccum suction pump...

btw, i like the name sakthi very much....such a nice powerful sounding name...do post some pics of little sakthi in the photos of LOs thread!

Thanks Vidhya, Latha, Mangai and Priya - I saw that brush in our local baby shop last week; guess I'll go and buy that now and start using it. he's been watching DH and me brush for months now, so maybe he'll co-operate.

Vidhya - so Uma is getting a brother sometime - nice! I'm still in 2 minds abt another child.

Latha - I hope your little girl comes out this weekend - daily visits to the hospital does not sound like fun.

Raj - Good luck! I'm taking an online course myself (on development and early intervention for general peds) so I can understand how tough it is to study with a baby.

Oh that cake is soooo cute, Vidhya! Last year DH got couple of sugarcraft books while on a trip to US. That's one of my fav bedtime books to read (and drool!). I hope to start doing something from it. We never celebrated Aniish's birthday with a cake so far. 1st one was at our family diety with homam, pooja etc., second one i was on transit from chennai to dusseldorf from my usual trip to home. This year I made a carrot cake with a simple cream cheese frosting for his nursery... here comes the picture. I'm hoping next year aniish will have some friends to have a small party at home. This year he was soo proud he got to cut a cake. They made a paper crown for him and made it a very special day for him. He has destroyed all the craft works they get to do but this crown he's saving carefully:)

Oh those cakes looks so delicious !! interesting predictions down there from the horoscopes...it took us a long time to have baby number 1 so I have no idea what it would take to have baby number 2. My MIL's "guruji" apparently told her that " Not to worry.. son and DIL will have one 1 boy and and the next two will be girls" .. I was like what 2 more kids..if I do the math right that makes it 3...so if it actually happens I will be taking stock quotes from this guy.. he does make me romanticize the fact that I will have a large family..but not going to raise my hopes too high.. it would be nice to have DH and me in the same city first.. last heard that was needed for making babies :)
Great going girls on managing studies and babies.. I have taken my GMAT and putting off joining an MBA program...really thinking of starting one by next year.. just need the courage to do so even though I know it will be hell for two years. Its been a dream that I put off since DH did his first and then we had our baby. Howeever I know it would not be easy and I am really uneasy stepping in to it. I do not know when is a good time to actually get back to school with a kid. ( also if Guruji said 2 more kids then I need to plan for that too ;)) My thinking is the earlier the better.. any inputs girls ? There are several part time programs that I am looking at. I would also be moving up the ladder next year at work so I am really nervous leaving that oppurtunity and immersing myself in a full time MBA program. Plus being in Dallas the options are limited since most of the good top ranking programs are in the west or east coast.

Vidhya/Latha - the cakes look very yummy! Nice to see Aniish at last Latha. He looks so cute with that very earnest expression!

Dallascw - Three kids OMG! You are going to be one busy mom if that ever happens. Abt the MBA - I'm just thinking here, but wouldnt it be easier to do it after your DS starts school? That way you wouldnt have to worry abt daycare/nannies and he would be easier to manage in the evenings (plus the very important fact that he will finally be sleeping at night and you too will get some sleep which will be really important when you need to study). But of course that would mean putting it off for 4 years - thats a long time - are GMAT scores valid for that long? And I dont know what you would do if you got your little girls somewhere along the way ;-) I wanted to study more too - but I've given up on that dream - I'd have to go away for a year atleast plus of course our town is simply too small to support a pediatric sub specialist.

    Vanathi.
