Re: Whistle from a construcion worker... oh the little things . I know the feeling, it's bizarre and fun at the same time. When stranger compliment me on my hair or eyes from either gender (I usually get that- you've beautiful hair or you've the most gorgeous eyes, I've ever seen), it always brings a smile on my face, even though I know it is genetic and I didn't contribute towards it. P.S.: My hair is wavy and unruly and I've always hated (disliked?) my hair bur it feels so good when someone thinks it's pretty.
Re: Whistle from a construcion worker... Enjoy the attention as long as it is not harmful.Sometimes we need a third person or a stranger to rekindle certain things.I am sure you would have felt the same way if some unknown(known too) female complimented you on your looks. And we do not get so much of attention now as we used to get during our 20s ..:crazy .May be you felt good because something like this happened after marriage and delivery????Whatever it is enjoy it as long as it does not make you uncomfortable..
Re: Whistle from a construcion worker... Ya chitra, it sure is because I am not-so-young anymore and when people notice, it feels good.
Re: Whistle from a construcion worker... Did you notice it nuss, i didnt mention the gender of the worker. It could by all means been a girl (for the same sex relationships are so very common here). I am sure your hair is beautiful. ya bhuvindhi, its because of that. Also because of the fact that its so rare to see someone whiste at you here.
Re: Whistle from a construcion worker... Very interesting confession. Admission? If you could acknowledge his smile and respond and walk on, this is different from the harassment women face in India. We are making progress. Next would be if a woman could whistle at a man and not be taken as soliciting business. Perhaps the whistle has been associated with negative attention for too long, and we need a different sound or signal to indicate a harmless appreciation of good looks in another human being. A most interesting discussion!
Re: Whistle from a construcion worker... The Male Perspective Mild whistling at someone doesn't necessarily have to be in bad taste only. It can be treated as a kind of exclamation on the part of the whistler - more like and act of chivalry. Maybe someone expressing mild, genuine appreciation. I imagine the frequency and pitch was just right to make the lady happy about herself. So it had to have good vibes though I personally won't encourage this. So enjoy till the summer lasts (applicable in Canada only). One hardly enjoys Indian summer :hatsoff
