Every idea emanating from these two countries is contributing to the growth of the world economic growth besides growth of the Asian giants. After the change of the government, relationship between the two Asian giants has grown significantly. They decided to sit down and talk to resolve their differences and every meeting between them produced outstanding results. The border disputes between the two nations are resolved amicably. The trade between the two nations increased significantly. People to people interaction happens on a regular basis and transportation by road, air and rail are firmly established. Both countries established Institute of language skills to learn both Mandarin and Hindi. While Chinese companies are awarded contracts to build infrastructure in India, the Indian companies are contracted to do technology development in China. Both countries entered into a Treaty for Asian Cooperation for Economic and Trade Development that lasts for 25 years.

Modi got tired of India's socialistic alliances during post independence period and capitalistic partnership of recent days. He is looking for a hybrid model that is more flexible. He moves quickly to establish unbreakable alliance with China to form a formidable joint market of 2.5 billion people. China got tired of investing money into Bonds issued by the Federal government of the United States and is also conscious of excessive infrastructure built already in China. They like investing in a country that is ready and willing to cooperate with China for the next 25 years. China’s bold move to change their foreign policy neutralized the cross border terrorism emanating from a neighboring country. They also agreed to give Most Favored Nation status to India. Government officials at various levels are asked to develop action plans to implement the strategy to improve economic and trade development between the two countries.

China finally agrees to India becoming a member of the Security Council of United Nations. Both China and India agreed to do military exercises together to protect the borders in South China Sea, Bay of Bengal, Indian Ocean and Arabian Sea. Both countries agreed to issue visa on arrival to promote tourism. Besides China agreed to allow unlimited Indians to visit Manasarovar and Kailash and declared the territory as holy. China also agreed to develop several hotels and restaurants in that area facilitating the Indian pilgrims to stay longer. Tibet reconciled to the fact that their land is part of China while China agreed to provide autonomy to Tibet just like Hong Kong.

China and India came up with a plan to have a common Asian Currency for International Development (“ACID”). Like Dollar and Euro, ACID is established as world’s third currency. Malaysia, Singapore and Taiwan are thinking about becoming part of ACID. China and India are working diligently towards integration of North Korea and South Korea. While Japan agrees to enter into trade agreements with both China and India, its unbreakable relationship with the United States remain a priority for them. Investment into both China and India are regulated by a joint Foreign Investment Promotion Board formed by both China and India. China establishes many training centers in India for sports personal to compete in Olympics.

After Modi won the election with formidable majority, I was trying to visualize what major foreign policy changes that would take place under his leadership. I went to sleep thinking about it and when I woke up the next day, I realized I have traveled a long distance from where China and India are today. In my dream, they both were consistently growing at 8% or more every year and they together have become the world’s largest economy directing policies for the rest of the world. Will my dream come true?

I do hope the dream comes true.
The last government squandered away a good chance to work towards it . Lets hope Team Modi opens new avenues and takes some Concrete and daring strps.

my only fear is, Uncle Sam's newfound love for Modi should not divert his attention away from strengthening ties with our mighty neighbour . USA would be wary of a strong axis in this part of the world and would do what it takes to thwart any powerful alliances.

    Dear Geetha Bhaskar,

Thank you for your first response. I am also hoping this unexpected alliance will revolutionize the way business is done in Asia. Let this dream come true and Asia become the focal point in the world.

    Dear Manju,

I hope so too. Manmohan Singh government was a friendly (is it more appropriate to say obedient?) government to the Western developed nations. If the alliance I wished were to take place, it will certainly shake up the western world and make them readjust their economic, defense and foreign relation policies.

Stranger are the ways politicians think. What seems to be common sense for common people like you and me appears very complex to the politicians on either side of the aisle. I feel alliance between China and India appears like the best option yet to happen. I am not privy to various equations between the two countries as I am not an expert in foreign affairs (any affair for that matter).

Nice dream Viswa but unlike China India has dozens of political parties who are more into the game of political oneupmanship rather than into development. .The opposition beaten black and blue in the polls will yell murder for every step Modi takes.giving a damn for whether it will benefit the nation or not. As for development, true development cannot be measured solely in terms of percentages but in terms of the well-being of a majority of citizens in areas like healthcare and education and development not merely of a physical or economic infrastructure but social infrastructure as well.

    Dear Balajee,

While I agree with you that social infrastructure and Per Capita Income of each person in India should go up before India gains the status of developed nation and mere GDP growth means nothing. However, I am also against welfare state attitude of giving away things to people. Every citizen should be responsible to make a living unless he/she is a child or old or sick. Every government should do human resources development as top in their agenda and teach people how to make a living and not give away things. Those models have failed in the past and will fail in future as well.

The new government should fix a time frame to uplift those who are below the poverty line whether it is 10 or 20 years. They should make sincere effort to train them to do things and at some point of time shift the budget towards human resources development than for social welfare. The previous government felt the need to keep them below the poverty line as they could show the welfare measure as a carrot to win their votes.
