My hubby and I might be moving to Melbourne or Sydney from Auckland soon. Was looking for some clarifications regarding Melbourne. Kindly help

1. How are the rental rates in CBD like? Which suburb would be good to live considering the safety, cost and density of population (i.e not too lonely and isolated. Basically lot of things to do). Where do u guys suggest to rent a place initially i.e is it CBD or the suburbs

2. Will it be easier to get a job? We are on work permit. Do they consider Indian experience? Do they have any volunteering scheme wherein we can gain some local experience?

3. Are there any activity groups by which one can keep themselves busy?

4. How is the general crowd? Are the people friendly and warm as in New Zealand?

5. How is the cost of living as compared to New Zealand?
