    Hi Vahee,

I have the same problem.I take homeopathy medicine. It keeps recurring. My MIL asked me to take more Vitamin C.It is found in gooseberry and orange. It has helped me a bit.I have sneezing only in morning, after I wake up.I sneeze 4 or 5 times and thats it.

Just try to find out in what conditions you sneeze.Like is it when you open the windows and get the cold air on your face, or in AC, or is it because of the dust.

Try gargling. This will bring out the Mucus in throat. And take pepper if you can with food.I take a pinch of pepper with rice at lunch daily.

This has helped me.Also we catch cold when we are stressed out.So try to de stress, and boost your resistance.

    All the best,
    Yamuna.

This is the classic symptom of allergy. I don't have it but my husband used to have this problem. My recommendation is to see an allergy specialist and get proper treatment.

Hi, i had the same problem. My doctor advised me to cover my pillow with 2 cotton cover at night sleep. I can say, it gave me best result. The dust particles from the pillow will enter into our nostrils and make irritating during night. Next morning when we wake up it irritates again and we get sneezing.. So try this method and let me know the result please... Please do not use any puffy pillows for ur sleep..

    My dearest vahee,
you are allergic to dust, air all your beddings in the sun change your pillow to fibre filled pillows not cotton use a quilt, if you have a carpets in the house tremove them immediately as they love dust, keep your windows open and let fresh air come in.
Air your beddings every two days and make sure it is all cotton.
    love

    hai,
I have also affected by this problem. i consulted one ENT doctor. He saw my CT scan and prescribed 2 types of drops and some medicine. withing 15 days, Allergy was very much controlled and then, he stopped all medicine. Now, I am using NASONEX drops only, whenever i am getting the allergy symptoms. Now, I am free.
So, go and consult a ENT specialist and follow his advice.
    Thank you.
    bye,
    ktk.

You might try doing jala neti every morning. It will wash out all the pollens for a good start on the day.

    Vahee,

I had allergic rhinitis for a long time too. I tried many kinds of treatments but never felt relieved until I removed the very cause of the allergy - and that was dust around the house and my weak immune system.

In my opinion, the symptoms of allergic rhinitis will remain as long as the cause remains, and no amount of treatment can be helpful as long as the patient is exposed to the cause. One needs to find that cause and remove it or reduce it so that the immune system can overcome it. The cause could be pollen or dust mites or anything else that someone is allergic to.

If you are allergic to dust, keep your home free of dust and do not wipe/brush dust around the house with a dry brush/cloth. Always use a damp cloth to wipe dust. It is better to keep the house carpet and rug free. If your sofas are cloth-covered (I say this especially because you can't see the dust on them), don't let them accumulate dust and clean them regularly. (My symptoms started because I used to fall asleep on the sofa while studying for my board exams.) Keep your nose covered when exposed to dust on the roads. Like other members have said, air out your bedsheets and pillows regularly.

Improve your general health. Eat a balanced diet, and exercise regularly. Like Yamuna said, take enough vitamin C. Lemon and honey in warm water clears up the sinuses well, and black tea with lemon and honey works wonderfully to relieve congestion.

Try meditation and pranayam. If you have been having allergic rhinitis for a while now, you might have some swelling inside your nose which makes it difficult for you to breathe while lying down. Pranayam can help this. So can jala neti or a nasal saline rinse.

Here's some more info on allergic rhinitis:

    Allergic Rhinitis-Overview

    Hope this helps. Good luck.
