I bought barley for the first time to make this dosa but did not make it for a long time. Then after seeing this thread, substituted it for rice one afternoon. I quickly googled and used 1:2 barley:water and it was al dente. I ended up with a headache (due to the chewing) and husband got stomach ache. laugh1smiley

I promised him that I won't cook again until checking properly. I read tips that we need to soak first and then use 1:3 barley:water...
    Thankfully the dosa was soft.

How do you guys boil barley?

    Hi,

Reg the pickled beets or other veggies, so its just 2 tblsp lemon juice and salt? So, initially it will be dry and over time, the veggies lose water and more liquid comes into the jar?

Also, do you combine all the veggies at once? And once you do the pickle, after how much can we have it and how long will these stay good?
