    How to prepare Black Sindoor/Karuppu Santhu for babies at home? Please share the procedure how to make it.. Thanks in Advance..

    hey op,

    hold a teaspoon (steel) onto a lighted candle or lighted diya(preffered is diya, coz im not sure about the materials used in candle wax). it creates a blacky substance.

    i generally saw that being done by most women.

    Isn't that the same preparation for kajal?? Is that what you want to know?

    I don't think OP is talking about Kajal. My granny used to make this karuppu santhu for all new born babies in our area. It will be kept in coconut shell.. need to mix drops of water and apply for baby. Sowmya, is that the one you are talking about.

    Need to saute javvarisi in pan (without adding oil) until it becomes dark brown. Add little water. Javvarisi will melt in water and become like paste. Add water and keep stirring till you reach the required consistency. Store it in a bowl and it will become hard and dry. My granny use to put in little coconut shells and distribute for all and we mix it water and apply.

    Yes, i was asking for the one what chillbreeze has mentioned.. I dont think kajal will be good for new born skin.. So wanted to prepare at home itself..

    And thanks a lot Chillbreeze for the proceedure.. :)
