    Hi friends,
I would just like to have your opinion on the following.

    1. My mother in law and her daughters hardly cook.
    2. They get frequent food deliveries or eat out.
    3. My mother in law has the habit of freezing food and eating the same dish for days together. AND WHEN I SAY DAYS TOGETHER, I REALLY MEAN IT!
    4. My mother-in-law advises me not to cook for her son! She tells me that I should not to 'spoil' him???

I find all this a bit weird. Hoping to get some opinions on this!

If they are able to maintain a healthy lifestyle with frequent eat-outs and frozen food and as long as they do not feel it pinching their pocket..... I would say 3 cheers to your MIL.....

I wouldn't worry too much about it. What they do in their own homes is totally their business. When ever she asks u not to cook or so ....just ignore or say that u like to cook. I wouldn't comment on the way they live their life.

    Dear Endlesshope,
I think that is totally weird as well. Thanks for agreeing with me!

However, I dont comment on their lifestyle either to my husband or in-laws. But I am just curious to find out what the others think.

As long as your MIL is not actually STOPPING you from cooking if you want to, I don't see a problem. As others have pointed out, what she does in her house is her business. What you do in your house is your business.

Some people prefer to eat out, and I think this is preferable to women being imprisoned in the kitchen, preparing three elaborate meals and two substantial snacks every day (a slight exaggeration, but we do love our food, don't we...). In fact, if you consider many of the MIL sagas recounted here, it would seem you have a progressive-thinking MIL who does not expect you to slave away at the stove so you can keep her precious son plump and well-fed. This is actually a good thing.

You are entitled to your opinions, so there's nothing wrong in thinking her behavior is weird or unhealthy or atypical. Just don't let this color your behavior towards your in-laws (it seems you are doing a good job of this, as you say you don't comment on it to anyone). I think this is a great example of a live-and-let-live situation.
