Whatever you read, dont read Chetan Bhagat. There is nothing literary about his work, his language is artless, his themes are lacklustre, his characters unimaginative and the whole package is not worth being called a novel. I can think of no word other than "atrocity" when I see any Chetan Bhagat's work. There are many better works out there. Go to project Gutenberg ; read some classics. If you think the English is too hi-fi (I hear this often cited as an excuse to read Chetan Bhagat), read something by other Indian authors (There's a whole thread here on that). I dont say the Indian authors have mediocre English, it is just that we might be able to relate to these works better - R.K. Narayan for example.
To paraphrase -you will learn as much from a CB novel as you would from a brain-less bollywood movie.
My apologies to all the Chetan bhagath fans! I have no intentions to hurt anyone. This is just my honest opinion.

Well I wouldn't be that harsh, but all his recent books seem to have been written for the sole purpose of being made into Bollywood screenplays. I agree there are much much better Indian writers out there. Jhumpa Lahiri, Kiran Desai, Aravind Adiga, Rohinton Mistry to name a few.
