Lighting a lamp

    Hi Bhuvan,

    Even i don't know about daily using lime lamp , "Philoshinie", a member of IL has specified so i asked her , so if she says more on "Lord Sabershwara and Sri Prathyangira Devi... " i think it will be more useful for all

    somebody pls confirm if lighting of lamp with coconut oil is allowed. many say a strict NO for it

    hi kanaka ragavan,

    can u also post the benefits of lighting the lamp with ghee, illupa oil, and combination of 5


    as i don't get flower i generally take the wick inside the lamp with the match stick to off the lamp. is it ok???? or u have any suggestions..... thanx in advance.

    i didn't know many of them. also i have heard that you cannot use 1 wick, take 2 wicks roll them together and use for each diya.

    1 wick is used when there is a death in the house.

    during damodar month, starting 18th oct, one should offer a ghee diya to a picture of lord damodar.

    one will get a million times punya, it is the biggest punya which one can achieve.

    in places where you cannot light a diya, even a candle can be offered.

    lord damodar is another name of lord krishna.

    there is a pastimes, in which mother yashoda tries to tie him to a grinding mortar with a rope, but somehow the rope is not sufficient even when she adds to it. rope means 'dama', hence krishna is also called damodar.

    you can get that photo from any iskcon temple, and offer a ghee lamp, in the coming month of damodar.

    Dear thegirlygirl (name not known)

    Very informative one. Will surely try to lit a ghee lamp for Krishna. I hope you have told Damodar month which is Aippasi in tamil. Am i right.

    Should we do the same for the full month or on any particular days. Please confirm.
